Author: Officer Torch
Subject: Mini Quiz 1936 serial

I'm fresh from a marathon of 1936 serial. Here's a mini quiz of sorts. No grades, but add points for clever, good clean humor.
===========================================================
a) When Zarkov finally contacts earth (from Mongo) via radio, he calls upon a city...what city.

b) What does Ming tell his guards to do with the High Priest (Ted Lorch) when he (Ming) becomes aggravated upon being badgered about upsetting Tao.

c. Does Flash punch AND choke Officer Torch when he became invisible?

d. What kind of food appears to fly upward thru air as a guard is bringing King Vultan his meal in a Mongo prison while FG is invisible.

e) Does Vultan have a seat in his throne area at his palace? What kind of seat.

f) Who (mostly) rescues FG from Kala's water chamber where FG is locked in with an octosak?

g) Who tries to strangle the High Priest (Ted Lorch) in Chapter 13.

h)Do we have any better idea how the Hawk men may sleep with those huge wings? Hint...think about Vultan's throne, also while his headwound is being treated after barely escaping the Turret hit.

i) What city is likely being flown over at end of the serial on earth.

j) T or F...Aura has a double we can see as the tigron runs away to get Dale.

A: New York

B: "Lock up this babbling idiot!" (CH 11)

C: He is already choking Torch and when he becomes all visible, he pushes him and Torch goes down on the floor.

D: Can't recall. Meat, probably.

E: A BIG seat!

F: Aura

G: Barin strangles the High Priest in CH 13 (but it is non-fatal and he still gets the last laugh).

H: Not clear on that one. Perhaps in a horizontal position?

I: New York City

J: True

Rick

Pretty good Commander Rick. I had serial overload after viewing a whole 1936 FG serial in a day, but it was fresh in mind, so I decided to post this trivia type "quiz"(though it became longer and more detailed than usual).

a) NY as above

b) "Lock up......" as above

c)Yes, yours ok also Torch got socked at palace doors by invisible FG.

d)Think it looked like a fish (prop).

e)Interesting, open for discussion anytime. Vultan's roomy throne area just had a backless barstool. (This apparently because of his large wings.) First time I actually noticed this chair.

f)Yes, Aura...She helped FG and saved him quite often.

g)Heh, heh..Gotcha...don't feel bad, seems we all made an error on this at some time, me also. Vultan does the strangling.

h) In view of Vultan's throne (answer e above) and we also see him sans headgear sitting on a round drum or table of sorts as Zarkov is treating his head wound, I'll venture a guess they sleep sitting up.

i)NYC as above

j)True as said above by Commander Rick. There was a double for Aura.

Many thanks to Commander Rick for posting answers, and any who gave this "Quiz" some thought. Flash Gordon can still be interesting. One learns new points from each viewing, and dvds can simplify pinpointing. But, someday just make popcorn, take in a Chapter or so if you can...you'll always find magic in watching Flash Gordon.
