1.) False. The trio are returning in one of Ming's rocket ships.

2.) They land and a farmer tells them not to land on his farm (a melon patch).

3.) True.

4.) Yes, the exterior was a stock clip of King Kala's palace from FG 1936.

5.) Azura wears the white sapphire. The black sapphire is held at the Temple of Kalu in the Forest Kingdom

6.) Ming demonstrates his flameproof ability in the powerhouse when the cover to the firebox gets knocked loose by the shooting flames. He walks through the fire to turn off the valve and a second time, to evade Flash and Zarkov, so they don't recapture him.

7.) True, Flash shoots out the porthole and kills the Death Squadron pilot and his ship spirals out of control and crashes.

8.) Zarkov tells Flash: "No, don't go in there. That is Techropane - a poison gas."

9.) True. Hapgood saves Flash from getting burned up by the Forest native, by shooting and crippling his ray gun, atop the tree.

10.) The Clay King suggests Flash seek their help, because they are an honest race, but warns him that they are strange and violent.

11.) At first, Zarkov believes the ray of light is coming from Mongo, but after some thought, he realizes it's coming from Mars and thinks Ming has conquered the Red Planet. We are never given a backstory on exactly what happened to Ming after his "death" in the Sacred Underground Palace of the Great God Tao in the end of 1936's CH 13.

Perhaps Torch can tell us where he went and how long did he wait to settle on going to Mars. Ming has not conquered Mars at the onset of Ch 1, rather in CH 14. Zarkov makes this assumption early on, but it isn't accurate.

12.) Barin's rocket ship was located on the edge of the Forest Kingdom and it was located after some searching.

13.) Flash and Zarkov are flying above the Forest Kingdom and decide to drop Happy and Barin a note, which they affix to the inside of a Martian helmet they drop from the Stratosled window. Hapgood and Barin think it could be a bomb, since the Death Squad pilots had a bombing run and tried to kill them, but it's just a note in the helmet.

14.) A: All the Death Squadron pilots are enemies of Flash. Later, the pilot Captain (Kane Richmond) and his co-pilot (Ben Lewis) become Flash's ally when the Captain learns his brother, Talgon was a Clayman, after they are taken to the Clay King, along with his men, who are reverted back to their human form, thanks to Flash bringing him the white and black sapphires, which ended the Clay curse. The Captain thanks Flash for freeing his brother and sides with Flash to help him overthrow Ming.

D: Toran and all of his tribe, known as the Forest People in the Forest Kingdom, are lethal enemies of Flash.

F: Tarnak was Flash's most dangerous enemy, who was the underling to Queen Azura. He later reverses his stance and sides with Ming, betraying Azura and after she is killed, he betrays Ming in the powerhouse and orders him into the disintegrating room.

15.) D: Nitron Lamp. Barin's last bomb destroys it in CH 15.

Pretty good Commander Rick....just a few minor points and maybe comments.

1) ok...as above

2) ok

3) hmmm....True, Hapgood a newpaper reporter, but I believe for a NY paper called The Dispatch.

4 thru 7) ok as above

8) More or less ok...dunno if we ever got the spelling of the word. I thought...Tepperhane (phonetic)...too bad the tapes, dvds were not cc or subtitled to see. Hopefully, in the future, they will have this feature.

9 and 10) ok as above

11) You're right...we're really not told...we are left to draw our own conclusions/ideas how Ming got there...perhaps he went since he was being chased by FG and friends in first serial. Pehaps he had some trasporting device, or just did his disappering act while in the dragon's lair at the end. Or, he vanished to the outside where he had some rocketship to send him off. Perhaps he wanted to scope Mars out for future conquest. A vacation maybe? Who knows. We can only speculate here.

12) yes...and I think they called the area the vale of pines.

13) ok....as above

14) basically a discussion type question. I personally originally gave the genuine bad guy award to the Air Marshall, who double crossed FG and just about all of his fellow Martians. But, as you mention, Tarnak...gee, he double crossed FG, Azura, Ming.

15)Ok as above

Thanks Commander...you've once again demonstrated your prowess concerning knowledge of these Flash Gordon serials. Congrats. Next week likely a quiz/test on FGCTU
All are invited to participate, or to comment on any of these quizzes. We could use additional members/participants...say, any of you Universal monster fans or Bonanza fans, come on over to visit us sometime. Thank you.
