(He'd felt her come into the room - but he had already cleared the space so he didn't say anything - and when her hand slipped into his, a shiver ran through him.. His eyes were locked on the far wall, where their headboard used to be. There was a soft chair and ottoman sitting there now.. and the wall was a completely different color, and yet he saw the blood. He looked down at the gleaming hardwood floor, knowing that his family had spent hours upon hours painstakingly restaining the boards. And yet, he saw the blood. He swallowed, almost audibly, and looked over as he heard his son. Chase was right.. there was no more red.. so why did he see it.. everywhere?) I nearly lost you.. here.. (He said, in a voice that was Chase-like in it's straight and intelligent tone, no emotion creeping in. His strong hand tightened on hers reflexively and he clenched his jaw. For a few moments he just stared at that spot on the wall, and then he finally turned, drawing his wife gently into his arms and holding her, ducking his head to press his lips to the soft spot below her ear.) I'll never lose you like that again, Shaylin.. I promise you.. (He murmured in an emotional tone, obviously finally facing things. He had faced the emotions of seeing her hurt and in the hospital.. he had faced the lonliness and stress.. but the fact that she had died.. well, it sunk in now.) I love you.. (He said softly as he brought his hands up to cup her face and kissed her thoroughly, needing to reassure her that he was going to hold it together.. and that he was there to support her.)
