Subject: Which came first?

If this is a bit of an odd question, I apologize in advance. In reading posts on the various boards it occurs to me that some of us bought syringes for douching and later discovered taking enemas. Yet others started out buying syringes for enemas and later started douching. I'm of the former group who bought a douche syringe in my late teens and then in my mid 20s decided to buy an enema bag.

I'm one of those who was pretty turned off with the idea of getting an enema, but in my teens thought that douching was kind of cool and grown up, especially since my friends were also doing it. I'm always interested in hearing other views, too.
