The Congress was misled just like you and most citizens were about the need to oust Saddam. Those of us who've had some experience dealing with the US intelligence community were certain that the WMD claims were bogus. As an aside, have you ever actually seen a nuclear materials processing facility? There is one east of SF close to the town of Livermore. It's the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratories for which the current DOE head and Nobel Prize in physics winner, Steven Chu, headed until he was picked by Obama for the job.

It is strange that even without any imagery shown of an alleged Iraqi nuclear weapons complex, members of the Senate and House Intelligence Committees could be convinced that Saddam was a clear and present danger to US security.

I'll bet that, if you followed the lead-up to the invasion of Iraq, you bought all the clap trap spouted on the cable Sunday TV talk shows by the neo-cons who haunted those shows. The one man who was not a neo-con and whose persona helped the tilt toward war was Colin Powell and his speech before the UN. He knew better, I believe, but dutifully followed orders. He should have resigned in protest.
