I happened to hear this on the car radio yesterday and it pertains to how the taxpayer unwittingly subsidizes a corporation.

A study was done on Burger King's pay and its (non) benefits for its employees and the related need by these employees to use public services such as food stamps, Medicaid, the county hospital's ER and any other social services that may be available. The study was done for all states in which Burger King has its outlets. The taxpayer subsidy for that corporation was estimated to be $278 million, or a quarter of a billion dollars.

I doubt that Burger King is the only fast food purveyor that benefits from taxpayer subsidies.
