Avoid any sudden strain. If you are going to have to bend in any way make sure that your back is not cold and stiff. Exercise regularly to loosen up the back and strengthen its supporting abdominal muscles. Stretching your back helps loosen it and prevent injury.

If you sit for long periods, make sure your back is properly supported. Place a small roll in the arch of your lower spine (at waist height) to maintain its normal S-curve. Simply a towel, or cushion rolled up will do.

When lifting, never bend down from the waist, lower and raise yourself at the knees. Keep your back straight and hold the object close to your body. If you are going to carry anything any distance that may be heavy, make sure that your way is clear. You do not want to be dodging around things when you are carrying.

Balance items you carry evenly on both sides of your body and hold them close or use a knapsack.

Sleep on your back if possible, with knees raised on a pillow. If you sleep on your side, a pillow between the knees is a big help.

Eight out of ten Americans will experience a backache at some point. Back pain is the second most common reason for doctor visits in the U.S. The causes of lower back pain are numerous. Some of the more common causes of lower back pain are:

Sudden injury to the back such as may occur in an auto accident, fall, sports, or other manner.
Gynecological conditions such as endometriosis, menstrual cramps, fibroid tumors, and pregnancy are sometimes the cause of lower back pain in women.
Stress to the muscles, nerves, or ligaments in the lower back.
Certain jobs such as those that require repetitive movements, sitting in chairs that are not ergonomically proper for your back, or standing for long periods of time often increase back stress and cause lower back pain.
Arthritis, osteoporosis, osteoarthritis, and other bone or joint diseases often cause lower back pain.
Not getting enough physical activity, being sedentary, or being overweight often stresses the lower back causing pain.
Slipped discs, pinched nerves, sciatica, aging, and infections are other common causes of lower back pain.
Smoking. More than 1300 physicians were followed from time of graduation (1948-1964) from John Hopkins University, some for over fifty years. The researchers found that smoking history, hypertension, and coronary artery disease (risk factors for atherosclerosis, occlusion of the arteries) are significantly associated with development of lower back pain.
Because there are so many causes of lower back pain, some serious such as spinal tumors, if you experience lower back pain see your health care provider for diagnosis. Shake your Body!
Every day find new ways to move your body. Use the stairs rather than an escalator or elevator. Reduce Stress
Stress busters come in many forms. Some techniques recommended by experts are to think positive thoughts. Spend 30 minutes a day doing something you like. Avoid any sudden strain. If you are going to have to bend in any way make sure that your back is not cold and stiff. Exercise regularly to loosen up the back and strengthen its supporting abdominal muscles. Stretching your back helps loosen it and prevent injury.
If you sit for long periods, make sure your back is properly supported. Place a small roll in the arch of your lower spine (at waist height) to maintain its normal S-curve. Simply a towel, or cushion rolled up will do.
When lifting, never bend down from the waist, lower and raise yourself at the knees. Keep your back straight and hold the object close to your body. If you are going to carry anything any distance that may be heavy, make sure that your way is clear. You do not want to be dodging around things when you are carrying.
Balance items you carry evenly on both sides of your body and hold them close or use a knapsack.
Sleep on your back if possible, with knees raised on a pillow. If you sleep on your side, a pillow between the knees is a big help.
If you need a firm bed, place a board between the mattress and the box spring.

Lower Back Pain

Smoking. More than 1300 physicians were followed from time of graduation (1948-1964) from John Hopkins University, some for over fifty years. The researchers found that smoking history, hypertension, and coronary artery disease (risk factors for atherosclerosis, occlusion of the arteries) are significantly associated with development of lower back pain.
Because there are so many causes of lower back pain, some serious such as spinal tumors, if you experience lower back pain see your health care provider for diagnosis. If your lower back pain is sudden and severe and it is not during your provider's office hours, go immediately to your local hospital emergency room.
Muscle Relaxants
Once the cause of your back pain has been been properly diagnosed, there are supplements to physical therapy and good posture that can help, such as skelatal muscle relaxants like Soma, Selaxin and Flexeril. Muscle relaxants such as Soma Selaxin and Flexeril are prescription medications that are used to treat pain caused by muscle spasms like muscle injuries, spasms, sprains, and strains. CAUTION: Please think twice before using Sunny Mist Tanning.My daughter got deathly sick after being tanned by them. My DD's Dr. said that she seemed to have gotten some kind of poisoning in her system. I just passed it off as a fluke. Then I heard 2 weeks ago, that a little girl had a asthma attack after being tanned by SMT. Then this morning, I hear that a little girl blacked out for no reason after being tanned last weekend by SMT & that she had never had them before, but has since started having seizurs. I just wanted people to be aware of this because it is starting to be a reoccurring thing w/ this tanner. I am not sure what it is that she is using but, I know that I will never let her tan my DD again. Just please use caution.

Beauty: Contestants will be judged on facial beauty, dress poise and personality. Girls should wear pageant dresses with white socks and shoes. Winners in each age division will receive a Beautiful Holiday Crown, 14� trophy, Custom Embroidered wrap around sash and will receive $25 off state pageant. There will be three alternates in each age group, which will receive an alternate banner. $45 entry fee

Halloween Wear: Choose your favorite Glitzy Halloween costume. (Be creative, Props are allowed). Winners will receive a Beautiful banner, nice gift. $15 entry fee.

Photogenic: Color or Black and White photos up to 8x10. No frames please. Photos must be received the morning of the pageant. Photos will be returned after the pageant. Winners will receive a Beautiful banner, nice gift. $15 entry fee.

Most Beautiful: Judge on facial beauty only. Winners will receive a Beautiful banner, nice gift. $15 entry fee.

Best Dress: Judged on style and fit. Winners will receive a Beautiful banner and nice gift. $15 entry fee

*There will be one GRAND Supreme Winner. This Contestant will have the highest combined score from all categories. You must enter all categories to be eligible for this title. The Supreme winner cannot win beauty in their age division (NO DOUBLE CROWNING). Winner will receive a Beautiful Holiday Crown, 30� trophy, Embroidered wrap around sash, Septer and $100.00 Cash.

*There will be two (0-4 and 5 and up) Mini Supreme Winners. These contestants will have the next highest combined score from all categories. You must enter all categories to be eligible for this title. The Mini Supreme winner cannot win beauty in their age division (NO DOUBLE CROWNING). Winner will receive a Beautiful Holiday Crown, 28� trophy, Embroidered wrap around sash, $50.00 Cash.

I wanted to thank you and tell you that we have always supported your contest, you have worked very hard to make all the girls feel very special. Danica was just so thrilled when she won. You made her feel so good and you work so hard to make this such a great photo contest.
Being that it is Christmas time, I know money can be tight. I had thought of something that you might be interested in. I had done the math and with everything added up it does not look like you would make much of a profit. I would be more then happy to, if Danica should just happen to win, let you keep most of the winnings. You can give us maybe $500 and keep the rest for yourself. I feel it would be great for you to make some money for a change.
I hate to see anyone work so hard and not be appreciated. I hope this gesture shows you how much we really appreciate you.

There is a certain person whos baby is suppose to be sick. A friend of that persons mom told me that she was thinking of taking her sick baby to AGG in GA. My question is who would take a sick baby to a pageant? Also, I wrote this lady trying to ask about her baby, and be her friend.She did not return my email, and told this same friend that she was not going to, because she did not want problems with her coach or another"so called" friend of hers.Do you think this is wrong? Yes, I did have past problems with this coach and the other lady.But everything is good now.So why is it wrong for me to try to be friendly with her, we both have kids that are close in age, and I see her at pageants a lot.I was just trying to be nice.

Hey Bonnie, instead of discussing other people's lives why not tell the pageant world why it is that Reagan hasn't seen her grandmother in two years? She really is QUITE sad about it. Okay JOKE! The kids were on far more than two minutes, there was tripping that wasn't on score sheets, hats taken off during swimwear, jumping literally up and down on stage, modeling that was more talent than anything, northern girls looked harsh, southern soft, northern modeling was clumpsy although bouncy, southern very clean, clothing that was overly provacative, bra straps showing, panties showing, NO panties showing with jiggling butts, boobs coming out of too small bathing suit tops and the winners were off in many areas...I loved Victoria, she was great but didn't take smile in her group which was BS, because that child has the most beautiful unforced smile, bathing suits on the bigger girls that would have fit a 5 year old, shimmys that made some blush and if I didn't know better I would have thought I missed that STRIPPER POLE on the stage that was invisible to only me apparently...I won't be pushing anyone into NES again...apparently they went more for the HO look than classy...just my opinion on 90% of the winners!!!

Distribution Rights were bought by Fox at the Sundance Film Festival for $10.5 million, so it looks like we'll be able to watch it without having to go to the local arts theaters!!!! Also, it sounds like a relatively large part of it(the final 1/3 of the movie) has to do with the actual pageant segments, so that makes me even more excited to see it.

I am someone that know Angela, Nikki and little Abigail personally.
Angela has been in and out of pageants for quite sometime, lately out for a long time.
The Chatham family were and are well known for playing favors for their friends and taking other peoples money.
Angela tried a contest many years back, with it going nothing but belly up because everyone knew her game, then she tried a pageant and it went under as fast as it went up due to her dishonesty and lies.
The money people sent to them was never refunded and all of a sudden they fell off of the face of the earth until now.
They have waited until a lot of new people to come along to rip off, they thought that people would not remember who they were, well Angela and Nikki I DO!!
You do not scare people with your idle threats nor do you intimidate people, you both are cowards and money stealing people.
Do you remember the saga with Lori Clark, you tried to hustle her, do you remember when Toni O shot the kids, you tried to hustle her?
I can go on with a list of people that you both have tried to swindle money out of.
Georgia is not big enough to hide the type of low life people you both are.
If anyone decides to enter your contest, I must say that they are in for a let down.
This contest will run it's course for maybe 2 months then when they decide to reel more people in by offering them the "chance of a life time," they will be gone once they have your money.
Angela and Nikki, pretty babies was a flop and so are the both of you.
BEWARE OF THIS CONTEST!!! THE DIRECTORS WILL TAKE YOUR MONEY AND YOU WILL NEVER SEE ANYTHING OUT OF THEM AGAIN. THEY MAY HAVE ONE OR TWO CONTEST, BUT THEIR FRIENDS WILL WIN AND THEN THEY WILL BE GONE AGAIN LIKE THEY WERE BEFORE. BEWARE THIS IS A RIP OFF CONTEST!!
