Vyguns are bipedal, with anatomy very comparable to a human. All vyguns have male chests (pectorals, abdominals), though females are less bulky than males, and none have nipples. These chests are long and sculpted, with pushed forward pectorals and skinny around the waist. Their upper arms are just a smidge longer than human length, generally held paralell to the body until the elbow, when they’re bent forward. There is a good deal of sleek muscle on the upper arm, but little on the lower. The wrists are almost petite. The hands are smallish, and laced with at least twice the nerve endings as a normal human, giving them an extreme sense of touch that they manipulate when constructing things. Upon each hand are six digits instead of five – a thumb and five fingers. They are sculpted like a human hand with two middle fingers. Upon the end of each is a blunt claw. It isn’t retractable in the least – it doesn’t seem to be made of keratin, but instead hardened skin coating a pointed bone beneath. There’s no line to distinguish claw from fignertip – they don’t even regard the bony tip as claws, merely part of the finger. Below the upper arms, a little below the middle of the chest, are another set of arms. They’re much smaller – fully extended they’d be a little longer than the upper arm. A little thumb and two stubby fingers, with tips similar to the normal fingers, are at the end of this, forming a small hand. Off the wrist of this hand is another finger, very long. From it stretches a thick membrane, attaching to another small digit at the ‘elbow’ of the small arm, and again on the flesh of the waist. It is like a tiny bat’s wing, mostly for show. The legs of the vygun bear two knees and an ankle each. They’re held very bent and are a little on the short side because of it, but the muscle is thick all over these limbs, which are actually very long when unfolded. The middle leg section is the shortest, the bottom is the longest and thinnest. Each foot is leathery and creased, three-toed, with a triangular sole (the skinny side attaching to the ankle) and three broad, flat toes, each capped with the hardened ‘talon’. They walk flat-footed. The waist and hips flow right into a tail that’s held at a slightly downward angle from the body (but mostly perpendicular). It’s as thick as the lower leg at the base, and is as long as the neck, head, and chest combined. At its tip are a pair of curious growths, smooth, hard, skin-covered crescents. They are thick and look much like pincers. On the inside edges of these they’re not so smooth – the very bone is serrated. These are hollow, so there is a trench between the two jagged edges of either crescent.

The gestation period is roughly eighteen months, largely due to the fact that a baby vygun (called a whelp or, more fondly, a squeak) is almost completely developed when born, like a miniature version of an adult. Since they are born with a completely functioning digestive system, there is no need for females of the species to have mammary organs. Vygun youths grow relatively fast, fully developed by the age of twenty and fully matured by thirty, out of their two hundred year life spans.

Temperament -
Vyguns are playful and analytical. They think through any bump or tangle in their plans, no matter how small, in order to live life to the fullest. They are very skilled at solving problems and making everything just fit together, so they rarely get bogged down with work. If setbacks arise unexpectedly, they have the ability to work around them on the spot. A strong point is their creativity – they can offer very unique and wild solutions to problems. When the work is done and the plans are perfect, vyguns love nothing more than a good time. They have large bases of friends and spend most of their time around others of their species. Or any other sentients… or, well, anything that can put up with their chatter, be it animate or not. All throughout their lives, vyguns seek knowledge. They are curious, setting away from home at a young age and always looking for new experiences and adventures. Needless to say this gets them into trouble at times, but they’re fond of the phrase ‘What doesn’t kill me only makes me stronger’. Normally they’re calm, laid-back, easy going, and let the flow of life carry them through most of the way. (Until a problem arises. They violently attack those.) So it’s difficult to send them into a rage, but it can be done, and that’s prominently when they don’t want to be bothered or when they’re younger. Some vyguns, on the other hand, though still ‘into’ life, take things in the opposite direction. Rather than laid back and mellow, they're intense, vibrant, and immersed. Two sides of the same coin. Vyguns have amazing work ethics and are often drawn into whatever project they happen to be working on at the time. When they’re at work and are disturbed, they tend towards screaming at the offender for a few minutes, or until they leave, then forgetting all about it and settling back into work. At times, they can be provoked into a very competitive nature. All vyguns will be competitive when the situation calls for it, as in a race or something that’s actually designed to be a competition. They retain their agreeable nature during many events that humans would make competitive, like doing the best on a written test. When fighting, either aerial or otherwise, vyguns will adopt a cold, toothy grin and a hard, determined face, making a serious game out of the whole thing.

Culture / Technology / History -
A vygun is proud to be a vygun. Their species dominates Magaol like the humans dominate Earth, though they're rather well accepted by the other sentient races of the planet, who aren't quite as prolific or technologically advanced as the vyguns. They live about two hundred years, so their culture and technology has taken twice as long to develop as that of Earth - it's suspected that the species is roughly fifty thousand years old, having lingered in the hunter-gatherer period longer than humans. Now they are space-age creatures, owning the vast stretches of space around their solar system and stretching fingers far beyond.

As said, a vygun is proud of their species's accomplishments, and they share a sort of kinship with any of their own kind. This has lead to a surprisingly war-free history, and a rather homogenous culture despite geographic seperation. What few cultural differences there were disappeared with the uprising of cities, which concentrated the species as well as linked them to the rest of the planet.

Neither gender dominates. This may be due to the vast similarity between them - only height differentiates, and not by much. The entire species is rather androgynous, at that. There is little class distinction, as well, tying back into the whole 'we are all one species' idea. However, their culture is largely influenced by the actions of the two space cores - The High Fleet and Low Fleet - of Magaol, so anyone who gains recognition in either is often admired by the entire species.

Relationships are very loose - vyguns do not mate for life. There is no such institution as marriage. They are rather hedonistic about romance; they operate on an 'anything goes' policy. Multiple mates, same-sex relationships, 'friends with benefits'.. this is all part of the relaxed idea of love. Having a child is often out of a desire to prolong the bloodline rather than out of love, since vyguns don't have any serious or lasting romance.
