...but we'd previously had a dog with that cat, but they didn't get along (well, dog was oblivious, cat wanted nothing to do with the dog). House was big enough and there were surfaces high enough that the cat could be out of the dog's way (dog was 9 months old, cat was 12 at the time). Worked out fine; dog left ornery cat alone. We moved soon afterwards so it wasn't like the cat had home turf; new to both - we did use the baby fence to keep the dog in the kitchen while we were at work, and moved the cat food out of there for a while, so the cat felt he had somewhere he could eat in peace without being around the dog. It was fine; they were never friends but lived with detente...

They all had a fit at first, but now the younger
cat, Neena (Aquilina) plays with Chewy, even teases him to
get him to chase her.
The 2 older ones, Zoe and Jinxie, snarl and swat at him as
he walks by and I think he is afraid to mess with them.
Pepper, the middle cat and Chewy are best friends.
This is a good thing as the other cats used to pick on her.
Blitz the other middle cat...he doesn't care about a thing!

I think the cat may not be happy at first, but they will learn to live with each other.
Word of advice: keep the kitty litter out of the dogs reach!
He will think it is snack time! Gack!!!!!!
