Subject: They don' t have school today or tomorrow...so...so far so good. :-)
In reply to: chezmere 's message, "Hi Kathy, how are things going for Matt this week?" on 10:44:37 10/10/11 Mon

I spoke at the superintendent's meeting last week and he acknowledged that there were some problems with the way things were handled. I spoke with a friend who is a middle school teacher at the school (she doesn't have Matt, though) and she said that a lot of the teachers were upset and didn't understand why things were handled like they were.

The teachers have an in-service day tomorrow. My friend told me that the teachers are supposed to list topics of concern and those that needed to be discussed. She knew a couple of teachers who had already listed bullying as one of the issues.

I plan to follow up with an e-mail to the superintendent. I was not completely satisfied with the answers I received, but at least the topic is out there now. I hope to get better answers and solutions soon.

As for Matt, he still doesn't want to talk about it. I haven't forced the issue other than to ask if there have been any more problems. When he got in the car on Thursday, he immediately said "There were no incidents today."

Maybe they really did move. I notice a happier, more talkative Matt when Cameron isn't around.

And apparently made a rude gesture at Matt as they walked down the hall. One of the Middle School teachers saw it and immediately walked Cameron down to the principal's office. According to my friend, who is a teacher's aide there, Cameron is in big trouble for continuing to pick on Matt. I asked Matt about it. He said he didn't even see it.

I am so thankful that the teachers are watching over Matt. Helps ease my mind.

Still not happy about the bullying situation, but at least I know that people have his back in the school.
