Subject: to everyone in this snow mess,
I hope that you all stay warm and dry. It hasn't hit yet, but that is all that is on the news here. I have to go to work this afternoon, and may be staying a day extra, so I packed for it.

We are covered in ice here in Ohio. The second round is still to come -- Kathy, 10:17:22 02/01/11 Tue [1] (pool-70-105-72-138.chi.dsl-w.verizon.net/70.105.72.138)
They are telling us to expect more ice, snow, and 40 miles per hour winds. Some tree branches have fallen, but nothing major yet. They are pretty heavy laden, though and I expect when that wind starts things could get interesting.
Stay safe, lindalou.

Work and schools closed tomorrow -- suek, 16:28:29 02/01/11 Tue [1] (adsl-70-130-170-251.dsl.stlsmo.swbell.net/70.130.170.251)
But all we have is sleet. We may get an inch or two, which is a far cry from the 9-12" they were talking, but they originally said .1 inches of sleet and we've got over 3" of that. I stayed home today with the sleet - I don't thrill with sliding around. State and federal offices off as well. I don't think it's as bad as they thought but now that everything is cancelled at least it gives the road crews a chance to clear things properly and not deal with stupid people!

Dallas is covered in ice -- Jenn, 15:42:00 02/02/11 Wed [1] (pool-71-170-235-80.dllstx.fios.verizon.net/71.170.235.80)
All schools closed yesterday and today and they have already announced the same for tomorrow. We did get some snow, but everything is frozen solid. Streets are like skating rinks! Today, they started rolling blackouts. That was fun. :/

Does your area usually get snow or not? --

Rarely.... -- Jenn, 21:30:04 02/02/11 Wed [1] (pool-71-170-235-80.dllstx.fios.verizon.net/71.170.235.80)
Dallas at most gets snow once or twice in a year, if even. Last year was pretty crazy as far as snow goes (relatively speaking, for north Texas). We get black ice more often than anything. This is the coldest we have had in years.

There was a bus accident that completely shut down that stretch of Lake Shore Drive. Apparently people were stuck for like 7 hours.
