Subject: To let my old friends here know - I lost my little dog Maddie

Here is her "obit":

Maddie Grace Harbison passed away today, 22 Nov 10 from complications of Canine Diabetes.

Maddie, a beautiful tri-color rat terrier, was born in October 1996 in Madisonville Texas, just in time to become the best friend of Jeannine Grace, who had recently retired from the Navy and needed a best friend. She enjoyed her first year living in the country, chasing cows and playing with her cousins Dotty and DeeDee.

When Maddie was one, she moved with her Mom to Fort Worth, where they met and fell in love with Jay Harbison who would one day become her Daddy. She also developed a very loving relationship with her sister, Maggie Whalen, who visited from Oregon, came to visit on leave from the Navy and later relocated to Fort Worth. Nothing would make Maddie happier than the news that "her friend" was coming to visit.

Maddie lived in the TCU area of Fort Worth for the majority of her life. The large back yard, many trees and her friend Rosie next door provided endless hours of entertainment. There were some setbacks, including a couple of unfortunate unplanned pregnancies by her half-sister, Missy Katty and the annoying kittens that were the result, but life was good and Maddie was a very happy girl. Maddie was never perfect, having a tendency to "sleep around" whenever we had company (especiallly when Aunt Sallie came to visit), but she never bit a human, never chewed up a shoe or damaged a piece of furniture.

When Maddie's Grandma Veda moved in after her stroke, Maddie became a "certified stroke dog" and helped to look after and entertain her. She was loved by all around her, with the exception of squirrels. She will be remembered for her ability to stare at people for a very long time and her tendency, at other times, to be very shy.

Maddie lived a wonderful life and the in the end, peacefully went to sleep in the arms of her Mom and Dad. We will love her always and know that when our time comes Maddie will be waiting for us. Thanks you to all of her friends, relatives and to Dr. Carole Cass and the ladies at Westcliff Vet Hospital for their loving care.
