Subject: I need remodeling opinions

So we are painting the outside of house and there is a piece of siding that is not in good shape next to the brick chimney. Tim removed the piece of wood siding and there is brick underneath. I am not sure why they sided over brick, but now I am questioning whether we should re-side it or leave the brick exposed. Of course they use adhesive on the brick, and they got paint on the brick. I have looked into cleaning it off and it sounds pretty much impossible.

Personally I would lean toward leaving the brick, but as we are trying to sell the house I figured I should get opinions. We would side the top about 8 inches down and put trim around the edges.

Here's the pics (read the notes (if it works)):

My neighbor used it to clean the brick on our neighborhood entry sign. I think they sell it at the hardware store...
I like the look of the brick. If you are working with a real estate agent I would ask them for their opinion, they usually have people they can call for help for things like that relatively cheap.

Hubs used it when he did some tuck pointing and needed to clean off excess. First, though, just try a pressure washer as obviously working with the acid is a hassle. We like brick too, unpainted at that.(and unpainted wood...)
