Subject: niki, need your advice again, and hope it can be quick...

a friend accidentally hurt her doggies' eye today when she took him for a walk. leash got away from her and it hit him in the eye [retractable leash].

Can we use 'peeps' eye drops in his eye? Or what would you suggest?

She said it was bleeding but I didn't see any blood. she was so upset she was in tears and sayin she was a terrible person [not true!] Help please!!

He was whining to go out again a bit later so I walked him then, knowing she still felt terrible. hope she realizes i did it more for her. gads! i wanted to cry with her she felt so bad!

Never put anything in a dog's eye that isn't vet approved! Even a simple saline solution can cause problems in some cases. If it looks irritated, you can wet a cloth and gently run it over the front of the eye, but anything beyond that requires a vet visit.
The chemical used to "take the red out" is toxic in dogs.

If the eye is just irritated it will get better and be back to normal by tonight/tomorrow.
If the cornea is scratched it will continue to bother him (ie squinting and holding it closed most of the time), if that is the case he need to go to the vet within a day or two.
