HI all! Just wanted to give you some info into a great program in our area! With Mikey being in the show Ragtime this year I have learned a lot and also realized how many people are unfamiliar with PSST!

So, PSST!

Here is a link which has performance calendars, ticket info (you can call to reserve) and much more...
http://www.valdosta.edu/psst/

PSST is a professional summer stock theatre right here in Valdosta! They moved from their long time home at Jekyll Island a few years ago.
Shows are presented in a rotating reparatory - which means they start out with Singin' in the Rain which opened May 30th, then continue performing that while rehearsing Aladdin which opened yesterday, then still performing those two rehearsing for Ragtime which opens next Friday June 20th!

A lot of work huh? You have no idea. This group of local college students and professional actors from NY and other areas work for 8-10+ hours a day. They start with 830-noon rehearsals followed by 130-430, then again 730-11pm! The long hours is how they get 3 huge productions up and running in such a short time.

Singin' in the Rain is a great show - family friendly but lasts a couple of hours.
Aladdin is the kid show of the season at 1 hour in length.
Ragtime is the dramatic show of the season with some content and language that is not appropriate for all ages. That said, it is an incredible and moving show that I highly recommend. Details http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ragtime_(musical)

If you have not yet been to Peach State Summer Theatre (PSST) I highly encourage to go see one, or all of the shows. They offer $18 military and student tickets and group rates for 10 or more. Shows are filling up fast and the season ends July 13th with Ragtime. (Full show calendar on website above.)

Another amazing fact - all three shows use the same stage. Some days (Wednesday and Sunday Matinees) there are 2 shows a day! That means they are performing, striking (tearing down) and putting up a set for the second show and then performing again all in one day!

Much of the cast is in all 3 shows - so they have to learn lines/songs for three different musicals! WOW!
And these are not small parts - for example - Houdini in Ragtime plays Aladdin and Young Don in Singin'...
The main character Taheh in Ragtime is also Genie in Aladdin and Dexter in Singin'...

OK, enough of the publicity and theatre education for today - here is your chance to see a Broadway style show with professional actors right in your own backyard!!!

Jennifer

PS - Mikey plays the little boy in the 6/20, 6/24, 6/28, 7/2, 7/8, and 7/11 shows. He would love to have his AM&T friends come!
