Author: LORTHE
Subject: x__the enemy of my enemy

[size=1]By the year 400 AD, the Tartan Empire had expanded right across Lorthe. But this was not something to be appreciated. The Tartan's were malicious, cruel and vile creatures not considered human. Their leader went by the name of Tartorious, more horrible and violent than all of his men put together. As a result of his campaign and conquest, the lands of Lorthe were in ruin. No bird sang nor did a child play. No beauty was left alive - and this was just how Tartorious wanted it. He had a strange hate for beauty and happiness, and a child's laughter was, to him, like nails on a chalkboard. But the death of beauty was not what he had set out for. His ambition, that held all his attention, was total domination of Lorthe. And, if seven brave knights had not arrived when they did, that is exactly what would have happened.

Five men and two women. This was the combination of the warriors that saved Lorthe. They went by the names of Ernic, Josiah, Arnadet, Trere, Ean, Rynne and Malli. Ernic, Josiah and Malli were of human blood, Malli being the niece of the now deceased king. Arnadet, Rynne and Trere were of Elven lines, said to be the grace of the group. And in the middle, Ean was different. Although Human, he was a warrior of the forest, Ean was a Woad. Woads hated any who was not of their own culture, and this was what was interesting. Ean did not discriminate against any in the group - nor did they discriminate him. In fact, the group shared a tight bond that could never be broken, even by death.

They came on the 17th of June, 401 AD. With them, they brought thousands of men to fight against Tartorious's army that was riding towards the last outpost of freedom - Cristehull. Cristehull was a large castle atop the hill that overlooked the ocean sea. The outpost was surrounded by masses of Tartans, and the steward - Meric - was at his wits end. His 400 knights on horse back were no match to the dragons and elephants of the Tartans. He says he was blessed by god, given the gift of a miracle. It really was just good timing with the will of seven brave warriors. They arrived with seven thousand men, using fire and oil and smoke, and against eighteen thousand Tartans, they achieved victory. However, there can be no victory without sacrifice. While Ernic, Josiah, Rynne and Trere survived to an old age, Malli and Arnadet did not. But their lives were giving for niether sadness or dispair, for on that day at Cristehull, they gave their lives for a greater cause. Freedom. Tartorious met his end by Rynne - the treacherous she-archer. However, among all this nobility and courage, there is a mystery that has stung the lives of all the descendants to come. Ean was never found after the battle. Nor was his body discovered among the rubble. They know he fourght bravely beside his fellow men, they know he aided in thier victory... but they do not know what happened to him. Some believed he was a traitor, and never fourght at all. Some believed he died, and was not found. But I, I believe he was alive for a long time after the battle, keeping quiet after finding his peaceful corner of the world, living a simple life.

The year is 512 AD. The world of Lorthe is slowly rebuilding itself, and recovering from the pain. Birds are returning from the cracks, wild stallions are again seen roaming across the wilderness. As for the steeds of the great knights, they are believed to be given a gift of peace, and when they died, they're remains grew into beautiful sunflowers, stretching high towards the sun, in a hidden valley. Many have tried to find it, for it is said to behold what a man truly needs. None have been lucky enough.

Your job is to help in the recovery. Do your part by living, to grow beautiful and help restore Lorthe to the beautiful country it once was.

However, its not like we're forcing you...
