First, thanks Pat. Yes, she is not appropriate driver material for young children. Some drivers do this for the work schedule, and not for the kind of job that it is..having children's feelings, as well as their lives in your hands. This is NOT all the bus drivers. I know many of the Gagnon's, and they are very nice people, so the fact that they own the bus company is not the issue. It is the administration I am pissed off at, both at the bus company and the school system.

It is illegal to have a child on a public bus for more than ONE HOUR, unless it is for a specific event, such as a sporting event, field trip, special out-of-area schooling (MEC), etc. I know this from my years with Early Intervention, and their working with Gokey & Quinn.

The Special Needs drivers are wonderful from SP&R. I must comment on them!

You can not tell a child with mild Cerebral Palsey to HURRY UP, when he can't walk that fast. It not only points him out and makes fun of him to everyone else on the bus, but it is discrimination. It is like telling someone in a wheelchair to find a way up the stairs!

The last bus driver cried through the entire route, screaming at the kids that she didn't know where she was! She had some of the kids so upset, they were crying too. She would frighten them by saying, she was lost and couldn't find out how to get them home! These kids are now being taken in by their parents, because they won't get on a bus again. We are talking 5 and 6 year olds here. It took us almost 4 weeks and massive phone calls to get her off the route. In the meantime, they just kept saying they were trying to "work with the company!"

I will emphasize again, this is not petty complaints! We are talking about hundreds of phone calls to the schools and administration. It isn't just one little bully on the bus. In many cases, it is the bus driver that is the bully! I am very strict with my kids...overly strict to those that bring their kids to walmart in the middle of the night and allow them to run through the aisles without supervision. But, you can't tell a bunch of elementary school children that they will be "punished" if they talk on the ride into school, that they are not allowed to read or study on the bus (most of my homework was done on a bus..it kept me out of trouble!), and that they are not allowed to move slow when sitting down on the bus.

You can not scream at a child with Cerebral Palsey that he is SLOWING UP THE RIDE and making everyone suffer!

Any bus driver that asks to be called Lady Di needs a personality adjustment, as well as a reality check, in my mind anyway.

Don't worry, Pat. I am not with the spelling and grammar police. Years of Barney and Teletubbies have made me lose my grammar. I have a 9 year old, so I am relearning as I help her with homework! But, my spelling is usually perfect..thankfully. Gotta watch out for those spelling police!
