Stop complaining?

I work for a defense contractor. My co-workers, my friends, my neighbors are all being attacked... and while I'm doing what I can to help.. and all phone systems have collapsed.. I make the mistake of assuming that at least my kids are in safe places.

The teachers I can reach in Chelmsford and Lowell told me that they were trying to keep to regular schedules and not scare or work the kids up.
I later find out that mine are home on their own.. with no way to even contact me.

I feel terrible for the Oganowski family... as well as for all the others that I know who have died today.

I have not heard that the town was under some sort of "emergency management". Was this announced somehow? Is it not better to keep things as normal as possible rather than make things worse..

While all this was happening today, and I don't know anyone who was not directly effected in some way, I just think sending the kids home (many to empty homes, with no supervision or support) was a mistake.
