Subject: Pageant "themes"...Directors c/i

Directors,
We know you all try hard to put on fun pageants our kids will enjoy and you try to be creative and fresh in the process. However could you please think about what you're asking when you set the "theme" for your pageant? Most people who do pageants on a consistent basis own a RWB wear, a Christmwaswear, maybe a swimsuit, a Spring themed outfit, etc. Looking ahead to the next six months I've seen many pageants that will cost an arm and a leg because of the "theme". Having to buy a new outfit for one event, especially if it's only a pre-lim, adds $$ to every pageant, and even moreso when you do something in an "off" time of year. It's very hard to find costume stuff outside the Halloween season, or beach things in winter. That makes them more expensive too.
Just something to think about....

Just because they are themed doesnt mean you have to have themed outfit, themed pageants are way to make the kids happier, jsut the ask the director to add a clause stating they will not be deducted for not having a themed outfit. My DD did a themed pageant recently and didnt wear an outfit going with the theme and still won, dont let themed pageants get you going, you know what is best for your child and what works, the directors dont and like i said, ask them first if you have to use a themed outfit and ask a clause! This is the best way to make both worlds happy! You know what I mean?

I love themed pageants. I am a sewer though so its not as hard for me to come up with something. I know a few of the pageants we've been to have had themes and the girls were something in that color scheme or something to that effect.

I also love the themed pageants. Specially when the directors decorate and have all the awards themed, like for halloween having pumkin tiaras and stuff.

But I can understand where if you HAVE to have a themed outfit it can get costly......but from what Ive seen of most of the themed pageants its kind of a either/or....you can wear the theme outfit or just any outfit of choice. Then of course some try to make pictures/comps/ports to fit that theme too......making it even more expensive.

But I for one hope they keep up the themed pageants.

I agree. I love the Holiday and Halloween pageants! It also makes it so much easier for me to decide on an outfit for my daughter when there is a theme.

I also love the themed Pageants, it makes it more fun to create another masterpiece{yes I can sew also}, but I can also understand your frustration, but the real issue is the cost you say, yes Pageants are not cheap, but I think we are all well aware of this when we enter so simply enter the pageants that have your outfits included in the PPW that are hanging in the closet all ready, then after that choose from then on if you want to do another one with A different theme.
I sell the outfits generally after each Pageant, Its this silly thing I guess LOL but you could try Ebay it always has something on in every theme and because the outfits have been used they are sometimes very inexpensive.
