Dear Sue Ellen, the "natives" have been running Newburgh for years and what you have at the ranch now is the result. The ones what gave a good galdern about the place got their education, got smart and got out. When the Titanic hit that iceberg, they hitched their wagons to the rats and scurried off. Saved their butts is what they did. What "natives" stayed are what you have today. The new blood in town has been aptly become "The Bloods" and some carpet baggers with some pretty impressive delusions about themselves. Some of the better known "natives" aligned themselves with the carpeteers only to find themselves used and abused and becoming the damn fool idjits they always was. They can't run to the crapper let alone run the town, unless you count running the town into the crapper. You can see that they're really great at doing that. The rest of the stay-behind "natives" keep themselves very busy staying on their behinds, up which is where their heads are. Outsiders are the Great White Hope today but because there isn't one flickerin' clue left in town, Newburgh keeps pullin' in the escapees from foreign nut houses and land fills hoping that maybe ONE day ONE mistake'll bring the working snake oil tonic that'll save the town. (Knowin' Newburghers, they'll probably put gin in the tonic, get drunk and pillage what's left of the place. So far, that's been the story.)

Meanwhile, things are rosey as all hell out here at the Landing. Dew drop by when you're out travellin'.
