Morning coffee on a cloudy day and the latest chat from fellow Newburghers. This stuff is sadder than we're making it. People thinking of giving up their homes because they can't afford to stay in their hometown isn't just joking material. If you really look around you see what happens when somebody leaves. We already have empty old homes rotting away. We already have huge empty lots where we used to have some beautiful buildings. We have TOO many beautiful old buildings that used to be the tax paying businesses but were given away to tax exempt, fly by night questionable groups. The city is spending too much on supporting a taxfree population (again) and it doesn't look like our leaders are doing anything to change that. The heavy burden is loaded on the shoulders of a few people who work several low paying jobs or commute for hours to higher paying jobs. Let's remember who pays to support our government and that they are our employees. Since they can't do what it takes to bring business back to Newburgh it's our responsibility to find ways. Then it's our responsibility to replace our government with competent people who'll KEEP good business in town. And here's where we can brainstorm with others. Call it an Executive Meeting, only our doors are open to the ones who'll be impacted the most, the taxPAYER.

It's heartbreaking when a Newburgher HAS to leave HOME like this! It's a goddam disgrace!
