The most vociferous people on the important issues are the ones who moved into town from other places. Newburgh was down when they got here but they saw some kind of better place. They made investments in their stakes in town and got together to protect their investments. They're the loudest and most in your face at city council meetings and the busiest in the media. But the old time Newburghers just go on and let things ride like tax increases, building demolitions, crime, litter, property devaluation and a lot of other important issues that are listed here. Some Newburghers aligned with the people who moved in but like Newburghers are they went back to their easy chairs and expect somebody else to fix all the problems. Old time Newburghers have this board and there's only a small handful of people who use it. Old time Newburghers have complaints and opinions but the expect somebody else to do the legwork. This attitude is what turned Newburgh into the dump that it is even back in the late 40s and finally killed it in the 60s. It's why good NFA grads left in the 70s and why nobody comes back. The only way Newburgh will ever rebuild is when all the old timers are outnumbered. So maybe Regina wants to see a better Newburgh and she knows that the only way to get it is to clean out the waste. She might plant a lot of flowers but you have to admit she does more than most old timers who do nothing at all.
