We, Daiichi Sankyo Group, as "Global Pharmaceutical Innovator", conduct the following acts in accordance with not only laws and ordinances but also the highest ethics and a good social conscience appropriate for a company that is engaged in business that affects human lives and that plays a part with respect to the social security system on a mission to continuously develop innovative pharmaceuticals and services and respond to medical needs from people of the world.

We will aim to improve productivity in all business segments including the pharmaceuticals business with the spirit of challenge and creativity. We will develop, and provide to the people of the world, highly safe and reliable products that are socially useful.
In particular, the activities for research, development and supply of pharmaceuticals, and supply and collection of medical information are as follows: (i) to actively work on research and development of innovative pharmaceuticals that contribute to medical development, and to steadily supply high-quality products that are highly effective and safe;
(ii) upon execution of clinical studies, to respect the subjects' human rights in cooperation with medical institutions, and execute such studies in a scientifically strict manner by paying attention to ensure safety, and upon execution of nonclinical studies, to minimize necessary animal tests and give consideration to animal protection;
(iii) for the purpose of ensuring the proper use of pharmaceuticals, to provide scientifically examined information regarding quality, efficacy and safety, and immediately and appropriately collect, evaluate and deliver information for when adverse events occur inside or outside Japan; and
(iv) to contribute to the deduction of medical costs and the saving of medical resources through research, development and supply of innovative pharmaceuticals.

We will compete in all our business activities in a fair, transparent, and free manner. We will have a healthy and normal relationship with medical experts, administrative bodies and governments.
We will communicate widely with society and maintain a transparent relationship with stakeholders by disclosing corporate information appropriately, timely and fairly.
We will maintain a healthy and normal relationship with governments, administrative bodies, medical institutions and business partners. We will stand firm against antisocial forces or groups that may threaten the order or safety of the civil society, and shall not give in any unreasonable or illegal demand.
We will carry out our social responsibilities, which are the foundation for every company's existence, and shall actively engage in philanthropic and other activities of social benefit as a "good corporate citizen." In particular, we acknowledge that it is essential to tackle environmental issues, and will voluntarily and actively act to improve and develop the environment.
We will perform global business activities in compliance with the laws and ordinances of each country and by respecting the various cultures and customs of each country, and will undertake corporate management that contributes to local development.
We will take all measures to appropriately control and protect confidential information and personal information obtained in the course of our business activities.
We will maintain a mindset of being individuals engaged in business that affects human lives, will respect society's confidence in us and respect individuals, and will not conduct any dishonorable acts. We will create a safe and lively working environment within the company.
We will strive for rationalization and efficiency of our entire business management and actively work on the continuous improvement of our management structure.
Board members and corporate auditors of Daiichi Sankyo Group acknowledge that their role is to realize the spirit of this Charter. They will take the initiative in pursuing this spirit, have it well-understood by all the parties concerned, and build and maintain the organizational system. If an event that may contravene this Charter occurs, board members and corporate auditors will, on their own responsibilities, solve the matter and strive to investigate the causes and to take preventative measures. Board members and corporate auditors will impose strict punishment on relevant parties, including themselves, after clarifying the responsibilities of the relevant parties.
