What a great weekend at the lodge truly on of my favorite places to rodeo well worth the drive!

Thank you to everyone who helped my family and I and all the kind well wishes and prayers I received . A special shout out to the three families and lodge staff that helped us hook up the trailer and dump the waste so we could get on our way.

This association rocks!


Tough week but I look forward to seeing everyone this weekend.

Please remember your non perishable food items so you can be a part of the raffle but most importantly help those less fortunate. Who has it better than a rodeo family?

Also please remember to show off those good grades you worked so hard for this weekend , I will have to enforce the no card no rodeo rule and you know how much I pray that I do not have to enforce the rule with any of you!

I will be collecting toys for need children. Please bring toys to the Lake city Rodeo they can be GENTLE used or brand new. I know my kids get toys they don't play with. So clean out the closet or have your child clean out their closet. You will make a some kids very happy. God Bless!!!!

As you shop the next two weeks please pick up extra food items to donate to the food drive. I'm not sure everyone checks out the chat so there will be more info available at the rodeo this weekend in folkston. The plan is to collect items such as : macaroni & cheese, cans of soup vegetables and fruits, peanut butter, jelly, cereal, spagetti sauce, pasta etc. We'll be collecting at the December rodeo in Lake City. For each item you donate you'll receive a ticket to go into a drawing for a gift card from Smittys. Obviously the more you donate the better your chances for winning. Looking forward to a fun time at Newell Lodge. Hope everyone has a great Thanksgiving and drive safe.

FYI...Lynn Smith who is a 3x National & All Around College Champion is hosting a Goat Tying & Breakaway clinic here at our farm in December during winter break. Because of the overwhelming response and because the first goat clinic filled already, she has added a 2nd 2-day goat clinic only following the first clinic. I can't stress enough what an opportunity it is to attend one of her clinics. Some of the top goat tyers in the Nation as well as Florida are her students! I wanted to share couple of thoughts here so here it goes.

SJRA is and has always been a great organization. From beginners to senior classes these kids are really good kids. I truly enjoy watching and interacting with all of them. I guess this is why I am posting this.

We ask for help at every rodeo and yes it is always welcomed. We ask it yes to help make the rodeo run as fast and smooth as possible but also to have people involved. If only a few are involved it slows growth of the organization. To make it grow we all have to be involved and truly care about the association. I want to challenge every parent to become interactive with the kids. Speak to them, learn their names, or just say hellow and ask a simple question. You will be surprised at where it takes you. It may even make you a new friend, family friend, or perhaps a mentor. I cannot tell you how many places I go (and I travel alot around rodeo and horse events with insurance booths) and see kids that were past SJRA members. The first thing they do is SMILE, then shake your hand or at least say a big hello. Usually conversation starts about how things have been, still rodeoing?, and how are your parents. What I am getting at is they NEVER forget you even though you really didnt think you did anything. When all you really did is say Hello to start with. When you become interactive with the kids you really have become involved and dont even realize it. It makes the day go by so much easier and faster. You get to the point where you want to rodeo as much as the kids or more. I know I have been there.

Think about becoming involved not just to help out but to get involved with the kids. It takes alot of people to make this thing work. The more that are working the less stress it is on the few workers we have.

My family followed the events last year and our two little ones are now interested in rodeo. Logan, 13 and Damie, 8 have ended their first year and a half of riding and have never compteted in any event. We will be sending in our applicatiions for membership and will continue to attend the events. Little experience and would love to get any advice. See you there.

horse.all you have to do is sit on him and he

Stocks bids are in. I recieved four bids and i am happy to say three of the four were very close. I will be contacting the potential bid winner for an interview on Friday with hopes of announcing the winner on Saturday.

I will be holding a Goat Tying Clinic at my arena in Sparr,FL on August 6th & 7th from 9am to 3pm each day. The cost will be a very reasonable $100 a student for both days and will include lunch each day. My clinics are geared for beginners to intermediate goat tyers and taught using the Better Basics of Goat Tying methods by Lynn Smith, 3x College National Champion. Roping Horses For Sale: Sammy and Clayton are moving off to college soon and we hate to put them out to pasture. Clayton’s horse “Rowdy” has been used in both Jr. High and High School Rodeo. He has been to the National High School Finals in Team Roping several times. Rowdy has been used for Goats, Tie Down and Heeling. He is push button and could be used at both the Jr. High and the High School levels. He would make a great beginner rope horse. He knows his job well, is a easy keeper and has never been sick.
Sammy’s Roan horse “Rosie” is AQHA registered and well bred. She has been to the Jr. High and High School National Finals many times and is a seasoned breakaway, goat and heading horse. Am looking forward to seeing and being your photographer for FINALS! I will be happy to do a CD for $75.00 each for fianls with the rodeo Friday night, Saturday, and awards on Sunday. Also, I will have a sample book of 20 pages that you can order for around $65.00 its a bound book with different size prints and you can caption your childs name and event date. I too will have a few samples of prints that are mounted on canvass the sizes and amounts vary. These prints look like paintings and there is no fading with age.
Thank you for letting me be your photographer for the year... it has been a great pleasure!
On anohter note I am the proud mom of my daughter and son-in-law who both are are graduating from FSU as doctors.

Hey ya'll keep your eyes peeled we got home from vacation tonight to find our trailer gone. It is a 2006 Sooner 37' all white there are decals my name is on the drivers side over the top of the drop down doors. By the rear ladder there is a breakaway roper on the top, a barrel racer in the middle, and a goat with "Nanny Slammer" by it on the bottom. On the passenger side there is a rope in a circle around a hat and boot. It was taken around 3:30 the day after Christmas from Lakeland being pulled by a dark colored buffed up truck. Im currently a female teen interested in participating in rodeo events. The thing is I dont know where to start. what got me interested in this is working and breaking a steer. I wanted something more to challenge myself. So can anyone help me with advice.

Hey yall! Hope the last rodeo was a blast! For the live oak rodeo we are gunna be having a round robin roping after the rodeo saturday night and then there will be great food, trick or treating at the trailers, a costume and trailer decorating contest! And last but not least were gunna have a dance!!!! So i m looking forward to the rodeo and hope that you are too!

We will be having a barbeque dinner after Saturday's rodeo in Live Oak. SJRA will be furnishing the meat and paper products for this meal, but we will need your help with the other items. If your last name begins with:

A-F: bring a side dish to go with barbeque (ie, cole slaw, potato salad, baked beans)

G-P: bring drinks & buns

Q-Z: bring dessert & chips

We will need several tables and help setting this up, so if you are available let me know. Looking forward to seeing everyone on Saturday.

Hi, All. I had to work while my husband took my daughter to the Folkston rodeo, so I missed out being informed about the fun and all going on in Live Oak at our next rodeo. Could someone fill me in? Are we having a dress up contest? Do we need to donate things? Will there be any kind of halloween activities going on? And I heard something about a parent rodeo? Anyway, if someone has time, please fill me in. Thanks a bunch. Katey had a blast at the last rodeo and I would like to thank the people who took her under their wings and coached her along. She was nervous about going without me, as her Daddy isn't very horsey. Thanks again!

I was wondering about the live oak rodeo if we were going to have a halloween contest?? I think we should have one since we are having a trailer decoration contest. it would be alot of fun for the kids and adults, even the whole family. hope yall have a good halloween and the folkston rodeo was a BLAST!!!

Folkston results are now posted. Also, a number of updates have been made to the SJRA website (home, schedule and results pages).

Hook ups are available at Live Oak on the 30th. There is a link on schedule page if you would like to advance reserve a one. Total of 37 available.

10/16/2010 Stopped at Smitty's today. Saw a few last names from FHSRA. If the Grimildi girl (missspelled) is realted tell Michael hello from Miss Kathy.Our son Ty Fleming was in FHSRA and went on to College Rodeo at UTM and now the grandchildren want to get involved. Alex had a bad experience on her pony at 5 she had to jump ship, so we are starting from scratch. I'm looking for an older quite easy going gelding with patience to start her out on. Chris Lee will hold a winter break roping clinic on December 18 and 19. The clinic will include calf roping and breakaway. The cost for the 2 day clinic will be $200.00.
