Subject: Re: Brazilian Elections

Hi Steve, how are you doing?

You said that "His Family Allowance programs helps 11 millions families a month", I think that instead he could have worked to provide the new jobs he promised. "Instead of giving the fish, teach how to fish it".

You also said that "he has driven inflation down from 13% to 3.9% in just his one term", the funny thing is, I am a Brazilian and I have not noticed any decrease of prices in the supermarket, the baker's or wherever.

"and he has strengthened the Real by 39%, compared to the U.S dollar (iht.com)". Well, the "reais" I've got in my wallet are just the same (probably less powerful, actually) as when they were when Lula was elected 4 years ago.

"He has accomplished a lot in just four years, and despite the scandals and the negative politics that he may have taken part in, he deserves more time to complete his goals for the country of Brazil". Well, I don't think crimes against the nation, robbery and scandals should be forgiven. Lula is a criminal and criminals should go to jail.

It may seem very different for foreigners... but we here can see and feel a bit of the reality we are living.

Cheers,
Mariana Costa.
