Subject: Brazilian

I read a few articles about the Brazilian elections, and from these articles I think it would be absurd to re-elect Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva. I am actually apalled that he seems to be the top choice. da Silva is a criminal. de Silva would probably be a lot better off if he legally helped the poor. I just think that the people of Brazil would be a lot happier if their President was not corrupt. If the man has to buy votes in Congress, his ideas probably are not that great anyway. It seems like he intends on helping the people, but maybe he needs a new direction. He should help all his people and not just focus on the less fortunate group.
In The Brazilian elections - a new stage in the Latin American revolution, Alan Woods said, "Unfortunately, however, good intentions are not enough," and I think that pretty much sums up the whole situation. He needs to back his ideas up with plans of action. The poor people are voting for him, because he promised industrial growth, which is not going to happen. It seems to me that when he does come up with ideas, he buckles to the pressure and does not carry them out. In power, his party went from being hardcore socialists to being moderate. I just think that if he held up his promises and worked with more than one side of his country, the Brazilians would be in better shape.
