I couldn´t agree with you more!
If two people are together it has to be because of love. Any other reason (as you mentioned: status, popularity, etc) would be a wrong reason and the result would be stress and disappointment. Therefore, while people wait for true love to appear, they shouldn´t get into relationships which will bring nothing but a lot of "headache"...
