Subject: Virginity

I saw an overwhelming amount of posts asking when it is ok to lose your virginity. The truth is that it is different for every person. The right time to lose your virginity is when you are prepared for hte responsibility that comes with it. Are you prepared to go through getting pregnant/ getting a girl pregnant? Can you afford to use birth control? Do you know if the person you want to have sex with is free of STD's? These are the questions you have to ask yourself. Above all you have to ask yourself if you are emotionally ready for it. It is a huge step and it should be taken very seriously. Most people who lose their virginity at a young age end up regretting it. You also must be safe about it. Having unprotected sex is like playing Russian Roulette, you never know what can come up. While abstinence is the only way to be 100% protected for pregnancy and STD's, there are ways to protect yourself. First of all, talk to the person you want to have sex with about it. If you two cannot talk about it, then you shouldn't be doing it. Secondly, use birth control. If you cannot afford it, then think of it this way... can you afford doctors visits and drugs when you get an STD? Can you afford a baby? These are the responsibilities that you have to yourself if you become suxually active. If you are not able to handle these responsibilities and consequences, then you are not ready to have sex. I hope this advice is helpful in making your decision.
