Subject: Miss Wisconsin 2008

or any who wish to know, Miss South Central, Briana Rose Lipor, 21, of Racine, Wis., was named Miss Wisconsin 2008 on Saturday, June 21 in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. The three-time state pageant entrant and classical vocalist won the Thursday talent award and the Friday swimsuit honors. The UW-Parkside communications senior will represent Wisconsin in the 2009 Miss America pageant on January 24, 2009. First runner-up was Miss Southern Wisconsin, Sara Therese Thorne, 21, of Saint Charles, Illinois, a Carroll College student in Waukesha, while Miss Fox River Valley, Shinae Lucille Kulhanek, 21, of Wisconsin Rapids, was named second runner-up for the second consecutive year. Miss Kenosha, Caitlin Thomas Smulski, 22, of McHenry, Illinois, was third runner-up. The classical vocalist tied with Kulhanek, a ballet dancer, for the Friday talent award. Miss South Shore, Margertha Consona McLean, 24, of Madison (Reynoldsburg, Ohio native) was fourth runner-up who hoped to become the first black woman to win the Miss Wisconsin crown. Twenty-six women competed in the pageant.
