KEVIN HEARN & THIN BUCKLE TO RELEASE NEW ALBUM

Toronto, ON: Kevin Hearn, the multi-instrumentalist/keyboardist of Barenaked
Ladies' fame, is set to release his new solo album, "Nightlight," with his band
Thin Buckle, on June 1st. The album, which is coming out on Hybrid Recordings
(with distribution by RED) in the United States, will be released in Canada via
MapleNationwide on April 13th. "Nightlight" is Hearn's third solo album, and
yet another opportunity for him to explore musical destinations of his own
choosing.

A sonically beautiful and captivating album, "Nightlight" features the musical
contributions of Thin Buckle, which is composed of Derek Orford (guitar), Chris
Gartner (bass), and Great Bob Scott (drums). The 16-page CD booklet
accompanying the album includes unique and colorful drawings by Kevin himself.
Recorded in 2002 following some incredibly trying times, the album's songs are
poignant and hopeful. As Kevin says about them: "The all contain an element
of reflection on a life experience, a little stroll through the rough part of
the memory lane district."

The rough part refers to Kevin's successful battle with Chronic Myelogenous
Leukemia, a form of blood cancer. He was diagnosed in 1998, and during his
treatment, he simultaneously fought for his life and wrote what would become
his second album, "H-Wing," which garnered a Juno nomination for best artwork.
"H-Wing" also received great critical acclaim:

· "A gently insightful collection of pop songs… The album has a feeling of
timelessness…" - Toronto Globe and Mail

· "…a subtle mix of swirling keyboards, gently chiming guitar and dark lyrical
themes." - Vancouver Sun

Hearn's first solo album, "Mothball Mint," was recorded in 1997 during rare
moments off from the Barenaked Ladies. He joined BNL as a fill-in keyboardist
on a summer tour in 1995 and ended up staying on as a full-time member. It was
just before his diagnosis in 1998 that BNL recorded their smash album, "Stunt,"
which spawned the number one hit, "One Week." "Stunt" was certified quadruple
platinum in the U.S. and sold millions more worldwide.

Prior to hooking up with the Ladies, Hearn spent six years as a member of Look
People, a Toronto performance art band that combined energetic, challenging
musical arrangements with nursery rhyme lyrics. He also toured with the
comedy troupe Corky and The Juice Pigs, and recorded two albums with Canadian
alternative favorites, The Rheostatics.

The Barenaked Ladies are currently on tour for their album "Everything to
Everyone," and in between those dates, Hearn hopes to do some solo touring in
the U.S. this summer in support of "Nightlight." Dates will be announced as
soon as they are confirmed.
