Subject: Mineral Oil and Shiny Shells

Seeing all these great photos of shiny shells in dotphoto compels me to run out tonight and buy some mineral oil! I haven't tried it before. Does it give the shells a wet appearance? (enhance the color?) Does anyone know if mineral oil has negative long term effects on the shells, like discoloration?
