Subject: Pen Shells

I am so excited! We just booked our airfare for April, we got lucky with a friend who is a travel agent. It was hard to find anything under $600 from the northeast!! With that said, the last time we were on Sanibel we came after a storm and the beach and ocean floor was littered with pen shells causing nasty gashes. My daughter probably should have gotten stitches. It ruined our beach time. We drove to Captiva every day to a friends condo. Is this typical after a storm? Are the beaches normally pen-free and how about the ocean bottom? I'd love some encouragement so I don't have to wear boots to the beach!!
Thanks,
Cat
