This would be my must-do list, in no particular order: (1) Ding Darling Refuge. Look for birds and alligators in the refuge. You can drive through, but you can also walk along one of the trails to get up close and personal with the alligators. (2) Shelling on a low tide. You can get a tide chart online or at the visitor center. On the low tide, you are more likely to see live shells, which the kids will enjoy. (3) The Shell Museum. After the kids have a chance to collect shell treasures, they can identify their shells through the exhibits at the Shell Museum. Catch the video presentation while you are there. (4) A boat ride. There are a variety of boat excursions: shelling trips, fishing trips, wildlife cruises, kayaking, etc. (5) Have a burger and shake at Cheeburger Cheeburger. The shakes are worth the trip alone!
