I would agree with most of the recommendations others have made. I have never understood the nearly universal approval that Cheeseburger Cheeseburger gets on this list; never liked it much myself, but many here swear by it. I would add a day trip to the Corkscrew Swamp sanctuary on the mainland (45 minutes from the causeway), Traders as a good restaurant with stuff to look at while you wait (if there is a wait) and a trip out on the pier to watch people fish if your kids are too young to fish themselves.
