Skip the Keys...not really child friendly.
On Sanibel, rent bikes, shell, play on the beach. It's a great place to connect as a family...no hi-tech attractions...just nature and family.

Do a boat thing if that's waht your family likes, just remember it may be cool in January. Don't know if dolphin cruises at that time of year will yield much, but when the dolphins are frolicking...great thrills!!

Go to the Nascrab races at Tween Water's Inn(check their website for day and time....Mondays?)
Matzaluna's is a very family-friendly restaurant, as are Island Cow, Sanibel Grill, Timber's, Schnapper's.
I agree with the other poster, Cheesebuger, Cheeseburger...highly over-rated.
