I'm 14 years old always trying to follow my dreams either playing in the MLB or becoming a famous rapper. I work so hard to get my music to sound good but it's to hard to get things seddled while my mom is working and my dad. I mean sure people lisen to my music and stuff but it's not that easy to do it. all the time, I save money to get me a microphone or a studio but it's just to difficault. I'm not the best one but I know I can be one of the best and make my dreams come true and make my family happy. even though kids might say that I suck or sayin I'm never going to make it. Every day I come home from school with stress and upset so what I do I make my music and I stay locked in my room all day writting and making my songs, I'm still not going to stop rapping no matter what, becuase scence I was a little kid I loved music and I still do as you can see I just need help and I'm Just a Teenager trying to make his dreams come true by being the next famous rapper. Date Posted: 01:45:13 03/08/07 Thu i am soooo sad...along with memphis, meridian ms has also suffered a great loss. kidd and crew were taken off here in meridian and i am about to go crazy listening to 3 guys that bore me to death. i used to drive home (about an one hour drive starting at 6:30 am) listening to kidd and crew, then sit in my car once i got there just to listen to the end of the story or whatever was being talked about. after putting in a 12 hour midnight shift, i almost hated to have to go to sleep once i got home, just because i would miss something funny. now, i am forced to listen to either cd's or to the q morning zoo (which does remind me of a bunch of smelly, caged animals). please work on getting another station within the listening area of philadelphia/meridian ms.......thank you. all my kidd-following friends wish you all luck!! candace and many other grieving "ex-listeners" [ Post a Reply to This Message ] |

I live in Southaven, it was about an hour and a half drive to work everyday and kiddkradick picked up on my radio for half of the time. i was so upset when the show didn't pick up in memphis anymore that i drove to work without a radio on for a week. I am still really upset about it. I had my baby about a month or so before kellie and my daughter's name is emma grace too. i was really looking forward to hearing about her little emma grace and listening to her grow up!!! Date Posted: 19:03:28 01/18/07 Thu I am 100% lost without Kidd Kraddick in the morning. This is just as bad as Borat winning the Golden Globe over Johnny Depp, what is this world coming to. I loved the morning show and cannot believe the stupid radio station that 94.1 has now become, SNAP really sucks. I even enjoyed getting stuck in traffic to still be able to listen a bit longer!! I called SNAP and they said that they felt a format change was necessary, I think we have enough stations that play R&B, and rap, come on SNAP take over another station and give us back KIDD KRADDICK!! I miss 94.1 the buzz so much, Brad and Dana got me home at night and Kidd Kraddick got me to work each day, we at least Dana is now Marla doing traffic on some of the other stations, not sure what happened to Brad. I vow never to return to listen to FM 100 I can't stand Ron, Steve, and Karen they are so boring and Ron Olsen is so rude and stuck on himself. I have gone back to listening to Q107.5, Karson, Kennedy, and Country Corey, that is the only thing worth listening to in Memphis at this point. I have also boycotted 94.1 from being on my programmed buttons in the car. Memphis radio sucks, but Memphis sucks just about with everything else, how many other cities have a Slick Willie running the city and the Ford's running everything else. Kidd, Kelly, Big Al, Taylor and JC: I hope you are all doing well. You were a great morning show, keep up the good work. I look forward to having you back one day!!! Al and Kidd went on and on about how great Memphis was.... so from that moment on I made an official decision to make the move. I am TOTALLY SERIOUS... that's what decided it for me! I have been listening to you since 8th grade (now 26yrs. old)... so your opinion has made an impact in many of my decisions! My first morning in Memphis, I found you... and I knew this could be home! Date Posted: 12:43:04 11/21/06 Tue I was an avid listener of Kidd Kraddick in the morning. I thought you guys were hilarious...and I am not into morning talk! I laughed every morning with you all...so much so that sometimes I wondered if the people in other cars thought I was crazy...one morning I laughed so hard I was crying! At any rate...the station that you guys have been dropped from has been dropped completely...they did play pop music, and now they play MC Hammer and the like! It is so annoying. Please Please do what you can to get on the radio in Memphis...somewhere. After becoming addicted to the radio show...I got my sister hooked and my boyfriend (and he doesn't typically listen to radio in the morning!). My sister would often call me to ask if I was listening (I was, of course) and then she and I would discuss it and laugh together! We miss ya'll! Come back soon! I have a decent collection of CD's that I had been neglecting but they are getting plenty of attention now and I will be adding the music that I can no longer hear on the radio.... I miss the music that was played on 94.1 THE BUZZ and of course the DJ's including the Kidd Kraddick show - I want to hear Big Al ramble and Kellie's baby stories. Date Posted: 18:21:05 11/13/06 Mon I must say when Memphis picked up Kidd Kraddick In The Morning I was not sure if I would like it, having been used to our Brad and Dana (who got swapped to the afternoons) but I gave it a chance and fell in love with the show! Now without warning everything has been changed to total crap and I listen to my iPod whenever I'm in the car now. I'm having Kidd Kraddick withdrawals and now I don't know if Taylor is still seeing C.B. from Blue October. Their show here at The Daisy halloween night was awesome and I can see why she likes him! I don't understand why they must take away the one thing that helped me wake up and bring a smile to my face so early in the morning. Well if so, maybe they have the new "SNAP" set up so that it doesn't matter if it bombs. Let me try to explain - no real dj, elevator music, and other than that, nothing human or real invested in what you hear on their station, no huge cost invested on their part. They have not addressed this issue despite the numerous complaints and emails, faxes, etc. that they must have gotten, have they? Maybe this was the plan - purchase 94.1, who cares about the content, the listeners will go to another station that unbeknownst to the listener, is owned by the same company. They come out ahead...big business - they don't care about the little guy. I don't mean stop what we are doing by any means. I miss Kidd and the show alot, it's almost overwhelming. I LOVED the format of the buzz with kidd in the morning and brad and dana in the afternoon.I have never laughed so hard as when Im listening to the station.Everyone seemed to be real and not a character that they were trying to portray.I really felt connected to them.So when the day came that I really need to hear them because I was going through a reallllly rough time I turned the station on and heard some crap ass music.That just made the day worse. Why would any sane person take something that is a success and turn it into something that will be a complete failure.How stupid and retarded can someone be.I hope they bring kidd back along with all the djs that were on the station.We love yall.I will be boycotting the crap station until the bring the old format back.. (Journal Girl got me hooked) I had a long commute to and from work, guess what, I still do! Now it is even longer. I understand all Corporations have a bottom line to meet so we should all help them meet this line...quickly. In fact bottom through to the Red. Just simply stop listening to the stations guys and gals. I have worked with Corporations for a long time and all they notice are the dollar signs. Rantings and ravings do not necessarily help but when Mr. CEO goes to buy his next Benz...you will get his attention. I first learned of Kidd and the gang when my little brother Christopher went on the Kidd's Kids Trip in 2004. He passed 11/12/05 from ependymoma brain cancer and I was so thrilled that I was able to have the gang included in my daily routine since they were a part of my brother's life but now that is no longer. Date Posted: 12:31:15 11/02/06 Thu I finally sent my email to Mr. Sandman at Entercom and I am thinking about changing the name and stuff and not only mailing it to Entercom but faxing it to them with the numbers ya'll have posted here. Here is a copy of the email I sent...it is a little long. Now I sit with baited breath for his reply...not that I care cause he will probably just write what he wrote everyone else...oh yeah the email here it is: Dear Mr. Sandman, I have to say when I got in my car on Monday morning to drop my nephew off at school and head to work I was suprisingly greeted by a robotic voice counting down time but no Kidd Kraddick in the Morning. I just thought that maybe the station was some techinal difficulities no biggie I would listen tomorrow. Then on my way home from work I got into my car hoping to listen to Brad and Dana but when it came time for the commercials I heard something about Snap 94.1. So when I got home I instantly went online to see if my worst fears had been realized and guess what they were. No more Kidd Kraddick. No more Brad and Dana. No more 94.1 The Buzz. OK when I started to write this email it was my honest intention to be as curtious and nice as I could be but the more I sit here and type the more I think about everything that your company did and the angrier I become. I understand that your company spent $100,000.00 studying demographics and everything and this is what initially led to this change...but my question to you Mr. Sandman did it ever occur to you your research was wrong. Now I realize your compnay might be second guessing all that money they spent on this research because I know I am not the only one sending you an email expressing my disgust with your company and your desicion to change 94.1 completely and to add insult to injury you take a Memphis Radio personality that everyone knows no matter what station they listen to and in my own honest opinion that is only one of several stupid mistakes made by your company. Did it ever occur to you and your company to ask the actual listener's of the Buzz what they might think about the change? I'm guessing from the change you didn't because if you would have you would have gotten some "No's" and possibly some very vehement "Hell no's". Did your researchers listen to the station? I am going to take a guess and say "no". Did your researchers go out to where some of the Buzz personalities were going to be to see all of the fans of the DJs? Again I am going to take a stab and say "no". Because again with all of this you and your idiotic company would have realized that changing the Buzz would be a huge mistake. Obviously we liked the station the way it was before or we wouldn't be expressing such anger at your company's stupidity and also we wouldn't have listened. You know I probably could live with the change in the music format (I seriously doubt it though) as long as the radio personalities that I love were still there, meaning Kidd Kraddick and Brad and Dana because they were my main reasoning for listening to 94.1. I also loved the music played on that station. There are several other stations in Memphis and surrounding Memphis that plays the same type of music now heard on Crap...ummm I mean Snap 94.1. Why can't there be some variety? When you flip through stations and now here on three seperate stations the same exact song something needs to be done...OH and I am willing to bet the three stations were all Entercom owned...go figure. Mr. Sandman I went to the Entercom website just to do some research and I found this: We have a Hot AC, WMBZ (with KILLER 18-34 demo ranking), the only AC radio station, WRVR (Dominating ""At Work listening"" and Upscale Women), Progressive Talk-AM (Air America). We call it the ""Wall of Women"". You may call it a great opportunity to have a lot of fun and make a lot of money This is part of your advertisement on your site for getting new employees. I wonder why it says in parentheses next to WMBZ which just so happens to be the call letters for 94.1 that you have a KILLER 18-34 demo ranking...hmmm...don't you think that is a little bit contridictory. I mean first you say that your expensive study shows that there was no place for 94.1 The Buzz but then you have on your website (and by the way in another advertisement on the same page you mention WMBZ as being associated with the station 94.1 The Buzz so I know you are talking about them) this bit of information. So which one are you trying to mislead us with the fact the Buzz does not have place in Memphis or the fact that the Buzz had a KILLER demo ranking. Come on Mr. Sandman which is it!! Look instead of feeding us lies we would like the truth. I am going to make a predicition within the next few weeks your rankings will go down and I mean WAYYYYYYY down because of this and the loyal listeners of the Buzz aren't going to stand for this. It just sickens me to think that big companies can come in buy out other ones and just start making changes and then even after much uproar from the people they have affected the company couldn't care less because as long as they have their way then all is well and good. I will be willing to listen to any Entercom station if 94.1 was brought back to the way WE THE LISTENERS liked it as the Buzz. I also predict that you probably won't but still doesn't make what you did right. Because again if you would have asked your LISTENERS - ya know the ones who help you make money buy listening and then hearing advertisements and supporting them - the change would have never happened. This is a long one and sorry for anyone who loses their attention half way through! Basically, Entercom Corporation (a corporate radio owner) bought some of CBS Radio Group's radio stations, including those in Memphis. For those who are unaware of how corporate radio works is that the stations are no longer "individual" like they once were, they now have several stations operating out of one building with the marketing, promotions, and management staff all working to promote the "cluster" as a whole. They still have a separate staff of DJs to man each station, to promote consistency and identity with the listener. What happened in this acquisition is that they are now merging two "clusters" into one "cluster." Meaning, they have to cut on-air AND off-air staff from several stations. Very few radio cities, or "markets" have independent radio stations, but here in Memphis we have a locally owned group called Memphis Radio Group which holds Q107.5 among others. It is owned by George Flinn. For the poster that suggested people get together and make their own station, I want you to realize that it takes millions of dollars to buy and operate a broadcast tower suitable for FM. Not only that, another corporate radio trick is that they hog up all the open frequencies so that no one else can get them. Mr. Flinn has a dedication and pocketbook to back him up. We are not so lucky. How can we fix this problem? We can't. Steve Sandman is now over the Entercom and former CBS holdings. It is most likely he will not bring back Kidd Kraddick based on the emails I have seen people post. If there is more feedback than outcry, it may be more useful. Keep calling, keep emailing. If anything, pledge your listenership. These guys read the ratings but they LIVE by advertisers. If they aren't getting the ad dollars rolling in, you bet your momma that they'll change things to try to get their money. [ Post a Reply to This Message ] |

Kind of like people who boycott WalMart. yeah you have to go to walmart sometimes, but not all the time. For instance, if you have the choice between going to restaurant A and restaurant B, and A advertises on the station, don't go to A as often. Just like with a movie or tv show that may be against your morals, don't go out of your way to see it. And of course write intelligent letters, emails, etc to the appropriate people, such as the local General manager as people have been doing. I switched to XM radio a while back because Memphis radio was lacking. The only station I listened to was 94.1 until Kramer left then they started with the 80's weekend, that sent me to XM. When Kidd came on I would listen to him only. My radio pretty much stays on XM now since Memphis radio has become void again. Now i may be a freshman in highschool and not be able to listen to the whole show but my mornings are dreadfully silent and i am becoming depressed from it. i woke up one morning to T-minus 3 hour 56 minutes 32 seconds and counting. I died listining to that with a shread of hope that it was a Kidd joke but when i heard i told all my friends and cried. I am actually doing hrrible in school now and getting D's and F's. Your show Kidd Kraddick had a huge impact on my life and the lose of your show in Memphis has scared me. now the Snap wont answer the calls dispite what they say that they are waiting for calls. Traffic was actually no big deal when you guys were on in the morning. And the Snap guy is disturbing- I am amazed that they actually picked that guy to be the voice of a radio station marketed to women 18-49. He's not personable AT ALL- an incredible turn off. Kidd Kraddick's great- it's like you know everybody on the show in the morning and they know you and you all just drive to work together. You have to come back!!! Within the last year I have fell in love with you all, and now you are gone. I can't take this anymore, I still listen to you on the web, but it just isn't the same. Within the last year I have become a father of twins, and my wife and I decided it would be best for her to quit her job and stay home to raise the kids. I have a hard time waking up and going to work knowing they are all at home, and there is nothing more that I want than to be with them. I was extremley misserable until you came along. Big AL, Kellie, Kid, Shannon, JC, and Taylor, you are incredible and have won me over to the point that I was excited about listening to you all while I got ready and the drive to work was awesome!!!! You were the only thing that helped me to leave my wife and kids to go support them. Now you are gone, and it is Sucksville Again. Dear Editor, I know I am not the only listener in the Mid-South to ask their selves this question, “What is happening to Memphis Radio?” The recent purchase of several Memphis radio stations by ENTERCOM has turned things upside down for the people of Memphis. First of all, the former 94.1 the Buzz was taken over by a freaky robot voice last weekend with a countdown that personally had me a little scared. We all wake up Monday morning with the new Crap; I mean SNAP 94.1 and NO KIDD KRADDICK. Next I hear that one of the senior on-air personalities in Memphis, FM100’s Steve Conlee was fired. Both radio stations have changed the genres of music that is played. All of the changes were made by ENTERCOM CORP. I understand that ENTERCOM owns these stations, and they have the right to make changes as they see fit. An official from Entercom stated in an email to a listener that Entercom spent $100,000.dollars in extensive consumer research. What consumers did they ask? Not me. Apparently they did not ask the thousands of consumers calling and emailing Entercom and their stations in the Mid-South. Entercom needs to read and listen to the feedback and outcry from the fans. They got rid of the top two morning shows in Memphis and who knows what changes are coming. All I am asking is for someone to listen to us. The only way we are going to be heard is if we keep sending emails and if the phone calls from concerned and upset listeners keep pouring in. Sincerely, A concerned (livid) listener. 'End of an era,' says FM fixture since 1979 By Michael Lollar Contact November 1, 2006 Steve Conley, one of the best-known names in local radio for more than a decade, is off the air as a disk jockey and on-air personality at WMC FM 100. Conley, at FM 100 since 1979 and part of an on-air team with Ron Olson for almost 13 years, said he was told Monday he was being let go along with the station's market manager Terry Wood and night deejay Garner Miller. "I was flabbergasted," said Conley, 53, who said the decision was made by Entercom Communications, which bought the station along with 15 other stations around the country. Wood, 64, said Entercom characterized the cutbacks as "eliminated jobs" and included one other on-air personality, deejay Twitch at FM 93X. Three other former CBS employees also were let go, he said. Wood said Entercom already had a market manager in Memphis, Steve Sandman at WRVR-FM 104, and chose to let him assume the management role for all locally owned Entercom stations. "That was basically an economic decision. They don't need two (managers)," he said. Sandman said Tuesday that Entercom's operation of FM 100 begins effective today, but he said he cannot comment on personnel decisions. Wood said Entercom offered no explanation why it chose to eliminate specific personalities. He said he did work Tuesday, his last day, and spent part of the day fielding calls from "irate callers" upset that Conley was let go. Conley had been a station programmer when he joined Olson on the air. "We played off each other very well," he said, with Olson often coming off the jokester to Conley's straight man. Conley said he isn't sure what he will do next, except that he wants to remain in Memphis. He moved to the city from his hometown of Milwaukee in 1979, and described that as a time when music and radio played a more vital role in the fabric of society. "Music today is so diluted from the strength and impact and excitement you used to have," Conley said. "In a way it's kind of an end of an era. Radio is changing now with iPods, satellite and all of that. Now commercial radio is having to redefine itself because of these new technologies, and it's getting really tight." Conley said the technological changes leave him "kind of sad. Mass media is becoming so fragmented now. Everybody walks around in their own little world. We used to be able to mobilize tons of people even if it was just to buy a gas grill." Now, he said, FM 100, which used to have radio ratings with a 14 share, has to struggle to get a 6 or 7 rating because of this fragmenting audience. Music has changed, too. How could this have happened to 94.1 that was just voted the No. 2 station in all of Tennessee. I took 94.1 off of my programmed radio stations in my car because I cannot stand the new station. It is horrible; Beegees to JT to Tone Loc to Gloria Gainer....what the hell??? There are no other staions in Memphis that I enjoy listening to in the mornings. Nothing hear compares to the Kidd Crew.
