Subject: England 3 - 11 Wales

Went up to the game with a gang of mates from Cardiff staying with a an old schoolfriend, a Saes, who lived in Barnes and played for a jokey rugby team (London French) who got us tickets. We were standing in the terraces and having a ball with Hadley scoring just below us. Went back to some pubs in Barnes were we did the Les Rutherford "Usher" manoevre in the pub all night leaping to one side whenever one of us came back from the bar causing mayhem and spilled pints all around us - but all in REALLY good spirit, which to be fair was appreciated, enjoyed and joined-in with by all the Saes around as well.

By the end of the night I was absolutely soaking wet, ringing with beer, my rugby shirt was gone, my donkey jacket was gone (a lot thinner in those days), my voice was going from laughing and shouting so much and I picked up a Scottish nurse and went back to her place to enjoy what was left of the night.

We all got back to my London mates house about midday on the Sunday from various parts of southwest London to have a quiet couple of pints (which turned into a lot of loud pints) before the designated drivers took us home to gods little acre (Cardiff).

What a weekend.

Memories, sigh.
