ok, I lied. I said I'd give it a rest but I have a couple more thoughts to share on aiming high and expanding thoughts to reach those goals.
It seems to me creativity comes from letting thoughts soar to ever increasing heights, no matter how outrageous those thoughts may seem.
Using my earlier example of the ex-addict who hopes to find a place where they will rent him a studio apartment, hopefully he is able to increase those goals by expanding his thinking from that hope to actually obtaining that apartment. So, the process of thinking goes from that studio apartment to obtaining a 2 bedroom apartment, to renting a house, to owning a house, to building his own house, to building an apartment building, to building a complex, to building a neighborhood, to building a city, to developing a region, to creating a state, to founding a country. Crazy you say? I think the founding Father's of our country would beg to differ. So, you're not a founding Father you say? Why not? You definitely have more access to resources, education, and emotional support than they ever did. You come from the same genetic stock. Why are you not a founding Father for your life? What is the difference between you and them? The difference is only in that they carried all those "crazy", "soaring" thoughts into their own lives. They thought about that goal, and never let it go. They then found the nuts and bolts needed to make things happen. They did what was needed in order to build a country. They took what they had and then took it a step further. And, they proved that it was not impossible.
I know that is an extreme example. Most folks don't really want to create a country. But, when you look at it that way everything else seems that much more possible.
Let those thoughts soar!
