Subject: Sober Holidays

The holidays are swiftly approaching. Do you have a plan for leaving yourself an out if you need to escape the often alcohol or drug laden events?
I've decided to bring my own non-alcoholic beverages of choice (no non-alcoholic beer or wine!) to gatherings or have plenty of them on hand at my own home if events occur at my house.
Since I will be sober and able to drive, I will be able to leave when I want to. If there is a gathering at my home I have my own bedroom I can retreat to if needed.
Also, I can spend more time visiting with those who don't drink or drink more responsibly. And visit with those who drink too much at another date.
One of the grads who attends the meetings has a good response when asked, or even urged to drink with others. It is "I tried that before, and it didn't work for me, so no thank you."

Can anyone think of some other responses when in situations where there may be alcohol? Has anyone changed their previous plans because of their new found sobriety?
We can help each other out by sharing our plans, and giving each other ideas on how to make this a pleasant, as well as, sober season.
