Subject: The rewards of a sober Xmas

I just spent my first sober Christmas in more years than I care to remember and it was the best ever. I always considered the holidays a very stressful time and a lot of work(Ihate to shop)but this year I realized that it was the fallout of being a drunk that made it that way. Shopping can be done quickly and painlessly if you are concious,no stress when it is done before Xmas eve. I was around people who were drinking and it did not bother me at all. I only had to look at my sons big smile to know that this is the life for me. The subject turned to alcoholics on his dads side of the family and my son said to everyone around the table that his mom use to be one of those but is'nt anymore and it was my best present my son has ever given me in his nine years. To see how proud he was of me will be one of those memeroies I will have to help me through anything that may come up in the future. Hope everyone elses Xmas was at least half as good as mine. I go in for my 1st recap in the morning and I am dreading it in the obvious ways but at the same time I know that Schick knows what it is doing so I will follow their program through. It has already done such positive things for me in the last 2 months I can hardly wait until it's just my life as normal and not something new. Being sober is awesome wish I would have done it sooner! Happy Holidays to everyone
