Subject: Gone From Daylight Film Score

PLEASE follow the music with the text!! Otherwise you won't know what's going on as the music flows!! It is like watching the movie!! :D

You'll have to copy the text onto another window or somethinkg, in order to follow it with the music. Or you could print the text, too. In any case, you can use the text to give you a "moment by moment" guide of what's going on on the screen. It isn't complete, and there are gaps in the storyline... but I kinda put together what I thought the film would look like (at least the FIRST part of the 'saga'!) Hehehe!

I found that if you read and listen through the whole thing, it's almost as if you're sitting there watching the movie!! And there are some pretty powerful moments! In particular I get chills with "Comicality's Theme", "Price of the Mimic", and "Taryn Captured". I do hope you all enjoy it, because it's the closest I can come to actually making this into a film!!

Just ignore the "source" music, for those that figure out where it comes from! Hehehe!

Also, it might frustrate you if you try to follow the text and music and can't double back because of the format I'm using to display the music, so I'm sorry... maybe you guys could copy the music or somethinkg. That way you can pause and track back to keep up the pace or somethinkg. I kinda don't do that because I've already memorized all the ques in my head an stuff... so I know if it might get a bit annoying, but I think with a bit of patience, it's really rewarding to visualize the text alongside the music!!

Also, Comsie said he "really" loved it, but then he prompty deleted it from the iPod... possibly while laughing manically. So I dunno...

-------

Gone From Daylight Theme:
At 1 second: Dark screen. There is a hint of whispy, vapor-like shadows waving across the screen. In a moment we will hear the deep and resonating voice of Comicality, though the audience does not yet know who it is.

At 6 seconds: Fade-in, "New Line Cinema Presents"

At 19 seconds: "We cannot change what we are. . ."

At 25 seconds: "But we can change who we will become. . ."

At 31 seconds: ". . . So say the scriptures. . ." [This last part is said almost, but not quite, in a whisper].

At 40 seconds: ". . . and there will be a coming,"

At 43 seconds: ". . .One who will bring new perspective to an ailing world,"

At 46 seconds: ". . . One born of fire. . ."

At 52 seconds: "One born out of love. . ."

At 1 minute: We fade from the dark screen to a silhouette image of the Chicago night skyline. The people, streets, buildings, everything, are all dark silhouettes of different shades of black and deep dark blue. This is the intro credits. The silhouettes show no details. The people look more like paper-mâché silhouette cut-outs. They move erratically, and not smoothly. We can only catch 'glimpses' of their movements as they walk the streets of Chicago as the camera pans back and forth through the streets. But as the music progresses, we notice in the throngs of people that there are a few silhouettes here and there that 'stand out'. They shine with a slight glow. And they have slightly golden eyes. Though all other features are invisible, like the other 'regular' silhouettes. These figures are not moving erratically, but they stand still as the throngs of people move about them erratically. Or they are moving in other directions compared to the crowds.

At 1:53 minutes: The camera pans in front of Navy Pier facing the skyline of Chicago. The skyline rises impressively. We now see a single silhouette person shining brighter than any of the other ones we have seen, only this one stands alone at the very end of the pier, as the figure looks out toward the darkness of the Lake.

At 2:04 minutes: The camera begins to slowly rise above the silhouette person, above Navy Pier, taking in a massive view of the Chicago skyline, a hint of gold light in the background horizon. . .

At 2:06 minutes: Fade-in, "Comicality Presents"

At 2:08 minutes: Massive fade-in, "Gone From Daylight" above the impressive skyline of Chicago - the sky just above the horizon between the skyscrapers turning a slight crimson red as if a sunset.

-------

Taryn's Theme:
At 1 second: We fade-in to the entrance of the "Navy Pier Dock Street" sign. It is late at night. Everything is desolate and dark. The camera slowly pans across the quiet pier.

At 11 seconds: Voice-over of Justin, "Tonight. . . I was beyond tempted, more than ever before. . ."

At 18 seconds: "This was no longer and empty threat, no longer an idea in the dark recesses of my mind. . ."

At 22 seconds: "This empty feeling inside of me had taken over, and my thoughts of suicide were now a reality."

At 28 seconds: The camera reaches the small and dark figure of Justin standing at the edge of Navy Pier next to the Anchor. He is looking out at the darkness of the Lake in silence.

At 34 seconds: The camera pans in front of Justin, above the Lake. He slowly drops his gaze to the waves as they move sadly below him.

At 56 seconds: "So are you going to do it, or what?" The soft voice is heard from somewhere behind Justin, near the Anchor. The camera changes focus from Justin to the Anchor but nothing is seen in the shadows. Justin looks behind himself startled.

At 1:04 minutes: "What did you say?"

At 1:06 minutes: "Are you going to do it, or aren't you? I figured from the way you were staring at the Lake like that, you were either going to jump in, or part it like the Red Sea. Either way, I'd get to see quite a show. I've been watching you take the long walk up and down this dock for months now. But it looked like you were really going to jump this time. I wanted front row seats."

At 1:21 minutes: "If you've been watching me all this time. . . then why didn't you say something before?"

At 1:25 minutes: "You looked as though you didn't want to hear it. Maybe now you do. What's your name?"

At 1:28 minutes: "It's Brian."

At 1:30 minutes: The figure steps out of the shadows; even in the dark we can see his beauty. "No it isn't. So I'll ask again. . . what's your name?"

At 1:34 minutes: Justin, slightly awed and confused, "It's. . . it's Justin."

At 1:37 minutes: "Much better."

At 1:42 minutes: "My name is Taryn. Pleased to make your aquaintance, Justin."

At 1:47 minutes: Taryn reaches out to shake Justin's hand.

[Film continues, with Taryn telling Justin to give life a second chance. Justin tries, and goes back to the pier defeated]

At 2:09 minutes: Justin is back at the pier, "I can't do this anymore!"

At 2:30 minutes: Camera in front of Justin and Taryn on Navy Pier.

At 2:33 minutes: Taryn, "Justin. . . wait, okay you win."

At 2:39 minutes: "But you broke your end of the bargain, so now I'm breaking mine. . ."

At 2:40 minutes: Camera pans in front of and across Navy Pier, doing sliding view of Navy Pier and the Chicago skyline in the background. We see Justin and Taryn standing on the edge.

At 2:44 minutes: Taryn, "You said you only had one choice. . ."

At 2:52 minutes: "Well now I'm going to give you a second one. . ."

At 2:54 minutes: "I said if you didn't see any value in life after giving it true effort, that I would help you. . . if you'll let me." Taryn reaches out a hand.

At 3:04 minutes: Justin takes Taryn's hand, sealing their fates.

At 3:11 minutes: Taryn smiles at him warmly. . . and his eyes begin to glow slightly golden.

-------

A Curious Group of Misfits:
At 1 second: We see Justin entering an empty junkyard lot. He is carrying large luggage bags in both arms and he looks almost comical as he tries to keep them in place. He looks around as if looking for Taryn.

At 11 seconds: "Knock knock!" Just falls back over his luggage and looks up at the looming Bryson.

At 16 seconds: Bryson, "Can I ask you exactly what you think you're doing here?"

At 19 seconds: Justin, "What?"

At 20 seconds: Bryson, "WHAT. . . are you. . . doing. . . HERE?" Brsyon says it as if Justin is 'slow', cupping his hand to his ear to exaggerate.

At 24 seconds: Taryn arrives, "NO!!! Bryson don't! Don't. . . he's cool. He's with me."

At 27 seconds: Bryson, "WHAT? What exactly do you mean he's with you?"

At 29 seconds: Taryn, "I. . . uh. . . I invited him here."

At 31 seconds: Bryson, "Dammit Taryn! You CAN'T just go out and bring home a STRAY!"

At 34 seconds: Taryn, "He's NOT a 'stray', he's my...friend."

At 36 seconds: They walk through some old cars and arrive at a large open space. Ten other young teenagers are sitting around in a dispersed manner.

At 40 seconds: Taryn, "Everybody...this...is Justin. I invited him here tonight."

At 43 seconds: Wide-shot of everyone in the lot staring at Justin in amazement.

At 45 seconds: Close-up of Justin looking around at everyone nervously.

At 48 seconds: Wide-shot of everyone and Justin staring at each other. Everyone starts grinning toward Justin and Taryn.

At 52 seconds: A boy in a wheelchair moves up to Justin, "Hello Justin, I'm Doc."

At 1:00 minute: As the camera settles back on Justin there is a skittish looking boy with sandy blond hair that wasn't there before when the camera was last on Justin, as if the boy had popped out of nowhere. Justin jumps a bit startled.

-------

Children of the Night:
This track can be used for when Justin finds out that Taryn, along with the rest of the lot members are vampires, on the bridge. Particularly:

At 1:52 minutes: Justin, with startled eyes, sees Jun stand up after getting run over by cars and limping his way back to the bridge.

At 1:55 minutes: Justin looks back at the other group completely agast

At 1:58 minutes: Justin looks right at Trevor as he smiles with crimson eyes and fangs slowly growing beyond what's humanly possible.

At 2:02 minutes: Justin screams and runs as fast as he can in the other direction.

At 2:06 minutes: Justin is stopped dead on his tracks as Taryn is standing right in front of him where there was clear path only seconds before.

-------

Birth of the Mimic:
This track is solely soundless footage of Justin and Taryn in their small trailer bed. At this point in the film he's already accepted Taryn's choice of becoming a vampire. They have already gone to the club to retrieve two 'eternity bands' which Taryn now holds. The scene is shot in mild light, with an almost grayishly blue but warm and fuzzy tint. Camera shots are always in action, meaning the camera shots do not stand still.

At 7 seconds: The camera slowly pans across in front of Justin and Taryn sitting on the edge of their bed, Taryn is holding the eternity bands as they look at each other silently, but smiling faintly.

At 38 seconds: Taryn bites his lower lip and slowly leans forward to place a gentle kiss on Justin's cheek. It lingers as the song slowly moves. . . all the time the camera is slowly moving across their faces in a slow panning movement.

At 45 seconds: Taryn slowly places the eternity bands on each of their wrists. The camera watches this as it slowly moves across in front of their arms, slowly moving and never stopping on any single shot.

At 1:00 minute: Taryn and Justin slowly lay side by side, the camera moves slowly across their bodies as they lay, adding sensuality to the shot. Taryn pets Justin's face affectionately with his arm that has the eternity band. He looks deep into Justin's eyes. Justin puts his own hand with the eternity band on Taryn's cheek. Their faces inch closer. . .

At 1:23 minutes: Their lips meet. Camera shot of their eternity bands, camera continues to move slowly from their elbows toward the eternity bands.

At 1:29 minutes: The eternity bands begin to glow with a slight blue hue. Their soft kiss continues. The camera now begins to take slow sliding shots of their bodies. . . legs, arms, backs, necks, as they intertwine. . . and they begin to kiss deeply.

At 1:54 minutes: Shot of their eternity bands again, they begin to 'melt' into their skins. . . still glowing blue, but now fading into black as they touch their skins.

At 2:22 minutes: Taryn looks at Justin almost apologetically. . . his fangs begin to grow.

At 2:33 minutes: Taryn places his lips on Justin's neck.

At 2:44 minutes: Taryn bites deeply into Justin's neck. Shot of Justin's face as he closes his eyes in pain. We see that he is screaming in pain but there is no sound being heard except for the track on screen.

At 3:07 minutes: We begin to see flashes of Justin's life; a boy in a hospital. . . a woman laying on a couch unconscious. . . kids laughing around Justin. . . we then get a shot of Taryn as he's biting Justin's neck. . . a tear streaming down Taryn's cheek.

At 3:22 minutes: Justin slowly stops struggling. . . his life leaving him. He lays perfectly still and in peace.

-------

Rooftop Chase:
[At this point in the film Justin is desperately looking for one called "Comicality" for answers. He has just spotted Chad who might be able to know more, but Chad brought a race instead. As the track starts, Justin is in an alley looking around for Chad who seems to have disappeared in the chase.]

At 6 seconds: Justin notices Chad above on the roof of a building.

At 14 seconds: Justin leaps from wall to wall back and forth until he gets on the roof. But Chad has already run off across the roof, jumping ot the next.

At 18 seconds: Justin sees Chad running across the roof and jumping to the next building. "Wait!"

At 28 seconds: Massive wide-shot of Chicago skyline, camera following sideways as Justin and Chad as they jump across buildings, only visible as silhouettes as we see them running and jumping.

At 41 seconds: Chad jumps onto a moving elevated train and at the same time we get a shot of Jun on another building as he's 'shadowing' Justin.

At 44 seconds: Jun whispers to himself, ". . . No Justin. . . you won't make it. . ."

At 51 seconds: Camera shot from the moving train; a figure rises high above a building and camera follows it up and down as the figure jumps down on the train in a massive leap. Justin's eyes flair crimson for a split second.

[Cut to 2:09 minutes]

At 2:13 minutes: Justin looks at Chad pleadingly as they stand on the rushing train. Skyscrapers race across on either side.

At 2:18 minutes: Justin, "I. . . just need to talk to Comicality!" Chad turns his back on Justin on the train.

At 2:25 minutes: Camera angle on Chad, Justin in the background, ". . . You'll have to catch me first, young grasshopper. . ." he smiles to himself.

At 2:30 minutes: Wide-angle shot in moving train sideways. Justin and Chad now facing each other.

At 2:37 minutes: Chad shoots forward at Justin.

At 2:41 minutes: Chad starts moving around Justin as he hits him back and forth, Justin barely being able to cover his face and body to block.

At 2:45 minutes: Camera makes a big circle around Justin and Chad as they fight on the moving train.

At 3:04 minutes: Justin manages to grab on to Chad and they tumble off the train, a few window shade umbrellas break their fall and Chad falls right into a trash bin and Justin slams it shut.

-------

Comicality:
[Justin has been tricked by Chad in the cemetery. Chad is gone, and the cemetery is desolate and dark.]

At 10 seconds: Justin looks at the back of the 'map' Chad made him and reads the apology for tricking him. Justin looks around exasparated.

At 37 seconds: Justin begins to walk slowly through the cemetery, defeated. In the foreground of the camera, a few thin whisps of smokey shadows begin to form.

At 45 seconds: Justin gets the creeping feeling he is being watched.

At 51 seconds: Justin quickly looks behind himself, but nothing is there. He begins to walk across the cemetery faster.

At 57 seconds: Aerial wide-shot of Justin walking. . . shadowy whisps slowly creep toward him on the edges all around.

At 1:16 minutes: Tight shot on Justin's face as he bundles his jacket closer to his body. Behind him the moon shines brightly. . .

At 1:19 minutes: But the moon is suddenly obscured by a billowing cape of shadows. . .

At 1:30 minutes: More shadows begin to appear all around, some now covering tombstones and statues on the graveyard like a black misty blanket.

At 1:40 minutes: Justin realizes he's not alone. Everything is getting darker. There is little light. And all around him shadows are wafting around him in intricate waves.

At 1:47 minutes: Justin looks around desperately.

At 1:55 minutes: Justin turns and witnesses a figure slowly rise from the ground, as if the shadows floating above the cemetery grass formed the figure.

At 2:00 minutes: The figure towers above Justin, a huge cape and cowl billows all about him. There is no face or other features except black nothingness.

At 2:09 minutes: Bright golden eyes begin to glow on the figure. They quickly change to blue. . . then brown. . . then red. . .

[Cut at 2:13 minutes to next track.]

-------

Rise of the Mimic:
At 1 second: Justin looks up at the towering figure with wide fearing eyes.

At 3 seconds: Justin, ". . .Oh shit. . ."

At 5 seconds: Justin turns and runs as fast as he can, screaming, "Oh shit! Oh shit! Oh shit!"

At 11 seconds: Justin falls on his face.

At 12 seconds: Justin looks up. The figure towers in front of him atop a large tombstone.

At 14 seconds: Figure loud and resonating, "We meet at last. . .!"

At 15 seconds: Justin rises, ". . . my god. . ." Figure's cape billows tattered in the wind.

At 17 seconds: Figure, ". . . Mimic of the Vampires!" Figure throws cape in the air surrounding everything in darkness.

At 24 seconds: Justin turns and runs. Figure jumps high in the air and slams fist on ground sending out a wave of shadows just as chorus begin to sing in track. Figure shoots forward and starts attacking Justin all around.

At 30 seconds: Justin flails his arms around in the surrounding darkness helplessly. The figure punches and kicks him all around with lightning speed.

At 36 seconds: The figure backhands Justin and he flies back to the ground.

At 39 seconds: Justin looks up bleeding, the figure towers above him. He suddenly sees a quick flash of a man towering over him in anger. Then a flash of a group of boys attacking him.

At 45 seconds: Justin looks down at the ground and growls, "No. . ." His eyes glow red.

At 48 seconds: Camera shoots back as Justin looks up and a great wave of blue-white energy shoots out from Justin to the left.

At 51 seconds: Second energy wave to the right at blinding speed.

At 54 seconds: Third energy wave toward camera, angel statue in the foreground. Wave blinds the screen as the statue disinigrates.

At 58 secpmds: Figure, "Marvelous. . . absolutely magnificent!"

At 1:06 minutes: Justin shoots another wave at figure, but it goes through him without harm. Shadows billow and wave fast around him as the wave passes through.

At 1:11 minutes: Figure screams, "But there is so much anger in you!"

[Cut track here]

-------

Comicality Vs. Justin:
[Cut track to 1:55]

At 1:55 minutes: Figure and Justin are fighting in middle of cemetery. Justin flails about barely being able to touch the figure as it moves around him in circles easily.

At 2:18 minutes: Justin shoots another wave of energy. Figure dodges it easily.

At 2:20 minutes: Figure, "Control yourself! There is too much anger in you! Spread your legs!" Justin quickly complies, confused. "Now, FOCUS!"

At 2:30 minutes: Figure taps Justin's foot with his own, then quickly slaps his face. Followed by a series of complicated punches and kicks to Justin's body.

At 2:42 minutes: Figure taps Justin's foot again. Justin quickly looks up and blocks Figure's slap. Justin's eyes flash red for a second.

At 2:45 minutes: Justin begins to block every complicated punch and kick figure had performed seconds before. Each time Justin blocks, his eyes flash red.

At 2:48 minutes: Figure, "Yes. . .!"

At 2:55 minutes: Justin leaps on the wall of a tombstone and leaps back toward figure, kicking him in the process.

At 3:08 minutes: Camera angle on Justin and figure sideways as they trade blows. They are shown only in silhouette. . . the moon in the background.

[Cut track here.]

-------

Comicality's Theme:
[Cut track to 40 seconds]

[As the music dies down we get a shot of Justin from behind as he's slowly struggling to his knees. The camera shot is taken low on the ground. Ahead we see the shadowy figure of Comicality laying down after receiving a strong brain geyser from Justin. Justin is crouched forward on his knees and using his arms to sit up slowly.]

At 48 seconds: Comicality's voice, ever calm and softly: "Is it love. . ."

At 52 seconds: Comicality's voice: ". . . Or anger?"

At 58 seconds: Comicality: ". . . I can taste both in you, Mimic," The camera stays behind Justin as they both parry against each other slowly. The camera continues to move sideways behind Justin as he slowly rises to his feet. We see Comicality's eyes begin to glow in the foreground as he too rises. Camera focuses on Justin's arm with his eternity band marking.

At 1:07 minutes: Comicality: "The one gives you strength. . ."

At 1:12 minutes: Comicality: "But the other. . . it is the path that leads to madness,"

At 1:17 minutes: Comicality: "And yet you strike without focus. . . with your anger. . . with your hate. . . you have no control. . ." Camera pans across the two as they slowly circle parry around each other from a distance.

At 1:25 minutes: Justin with slightly shaky voice: "Who. . . are you?"

At 1:27 minutes: Close-up on Comicality as he places a hand on the shoulder of a broken angel statue and leans forward slightly.

At 1:32 minutes: Comicality: ". . .Were you not searching for me. . . Mimic?"

At 1:38 minutes: Close-up on Justin as the realization dawns on him.

At 1:43 minutes: Justin: "Comicality. . .! Sir. . . I. . ." Justin falls to his knees.

At 1:46 minutes: Comicality is now standing atop the angel statue, his shadows wrapping around it and creating seemingly wings around him in the air.

At 1:50 minutes: Comicality: "I see my reputation proceeds me. . . Vampire Mimic."

-------

Guiding a God:
[Montage piece maybe?]

Track is used to show Justin being trained by everyone during his crossover. Shots are shown with him being instructed by Bryson, Doc, Jun, Dion, Comicality, Dizz, and Jazz.

Here and there in the track we see him spending time with Taryn.

In particular:

At 2:31 minutes: We see Justin starting to succeed in his trainings.

At 3:02 minutes: Shot of Comicality and Jazz standing in the foreground as they watch Justin get frustrated with Dizz over his extra.

At 3:06 minutes: Jazz, "The boy carries a lot of baggage with him. Are you sure he's the right one?"

At 3:13 minutes: Comicality replies, "[Completely blank here babe, hehehe this is your 'area'. So far I'm trying to use only lines taken straight from the story itself. But I imagine he says something wise, hehe.]

At 3:49 minutes: Shot of an old gothic-like skyscraper, and Jazz's voice-over, "Well. . . I hope you're right Comsie. . . for all our sakes,"

At 4:07 minutes: Comicality's deep and resonating voice-over, "We cannot change what we are, Justin. But we can cange who we will become. . ."

At 4:17 minutes: "You would be wise to remember those words. . . young Mimic."

At 4:27 minutes: Camera shot continues to move up the skyscraper toward the top.

At 4:41 minutes: Shot of Justin climbing skyscraper toward top, Comicality following.

At 4:55 minutes: Justin stands on top of a state on the skyscraper buttress. . . looking across the city, Comicality at his side. . . their eyes glowing red.
