RE-MOD

- The idea of a Vampire 're-mod' is to separate themselves from their humanity, and fully giving themselves over to darkness. A 're-mod' is the officially changing of a vampires name, accepting something much more 'exotic' or original to fit their new identity as a vampire in a world of darkness. Many vampires wait until their extras manifest before choosing a new name. Attempting to find something that will fit them and last them for a long long time in darkness. Something that fits their peronality, their abilities, and their current situation. Some vampires have been known to change their names many times as they age and move from place to place. But a majority pick one new name and stick with it.

It is an acceptance, and a need for distance from their past life. That is wat makes the Re-mod so special. There are still vampirs that retain their old human names...but many find release in the change. In fact, some even refer to their human name as their 'slave names'. A time before understanding. A prison personality that they will no longer answer to. This concept varies from vampire to vampire...but has become a part of the vampire culture for at least a century or more.

SCRIBE

- A scribe is a vampire 'weapon' designed purely for the hidden and secretive writers of the sacred scriptures. In the old days, vampires writing scriptures and challenging the social norms put in place by those in control....was considered a sin. A total blasphemy that could not and WOULD not be tolerated. Theywere rebels, renegades, and deviots, in the eyes of their peers. So the knowledge and experience of many vampires was suffocated and suppressed by a populous who was too afraid to hear what they had to say. Either through the fear of a changing mindset, or fear of having their growing numbers exposed to the humans who hunted them. The prophecies, the predictions, the opposition of brainwashing and mind control...it became a dangerous threat for those who needed a much more 'narrow' vision of the world and reality to succeed, in order to keep a stranglehold on the vampire (and human) population. So writers of the scriptures found themselves being hunted and persecuted endlessly for their beliefs.

They often wrote their scriptures in secret. Locked away in hiding, dwelling in sanctuaies and safehouses, where their words could be read and embraced by future generations. If ONLY they could get them out in the open. However...raids and attacks were common. And therefore...the pens and quills that vampires used to write the scriptures were 'modified' to protect the vampire creating the new scriptures at a moment's notice...in the case of a sudden attack or an assassin's approach. The 'Scribe' is 21 inches long (Commemorating the '21 steps' towards the concept of truth and revelation...created by an ancient vampire teacher named Cassian Marcellus), with a sharp ink pen for a tip, but a bladed edge all the way up one of its sides, and a hollow star shaped tip for piercing a vampire's heart. It acts as a rapier or saber for any vampire trying to protect themselves from an an enemy. It was a slightly heavy writing utensil, but that was to simultaneously train the wrists and fingers to fight. Certain calligrophy and ancient vampire symbols were created with fighting applications in mind.

There is even an ancient fighting style that was developed directly for use with the vampire scribe. One in which the weapon itself is thrown up into the air, or juggled with fighting stances on the ground, in order to prove itself to be a more effective weapon. By throwing the deadly scribe into the air, an opponent would be forced to look upward it kep their eyes on the twirling blade...exposing the throat and all major arteries to a vampire's attack. It has been a very deceptive and deadly art for centuries, and is still very potent to this day.

In the modern age, the new scribes are manufactured without the bladed edges. The human/vampire is much more civilized than it was a century ago. The scribe is made and used more out of tradition and honor for past sacrifices than an actual weapon. But there are still many who keep their old scribes sharpened and close at hand. In case the world reverts back to its persecution and hunhger for silencing the words of those with a different point of view.
