- While it is incredibly expensive to have it done, far out of an average vampire's price range...it is possible for one in darkness to actually purchase added protection for their heart. The very source of a vampire's existence. A cardioplate is metallic structure that surrounds the heart and keeps it housed in a shell that is VERY difficult to penetrate. While it is not 100% 'invinceable', these cardioplates have been known to protect the heart from everything from shivs to close range gunfire. (Depending on what metal was used during the procedure) Once surgically implated, a cardioplate cannot be removed again. It's a very delicate surgery that a normal human would not survive. Not without the healing properties of those in darkness.

There are some wealthy vampires and Elders who possess such plates in their chests...but a vast majority of these are mostly worn by assassins and the vampire criminal element of the underworld. Often having enough enemies to warrant such a costly and dangerous means of protection.

- Whether they work for the Elders themselves, or act as freelance hackers for hire, the 'Pitbulls' are a global network of online protectors...seeking out and eradicating any and all problems with the secrets of the vampire order. The work from extremely large networks, all night, every night, watcing for underground broadcasts, illegal trading of private information, any 'break=ins' from any human or vampire that is seeking information that has been deemed 'forbidden' by the Elders. Their tasks also include shielding human governments from accessing secret informations, and keeping tabs on any vampire that threatens the discretion needed to keep the vampire population from total exposure. If they find you online, at any time, doing something you're not supposed...you can be traced in a matter of seconds, and Hunters will be immediately dispatched to that location to solve the 'problem'.

Very swift, alert, and tapped into almost every database imaginable, these vampires keep a close eye on everything that passes their radar, 24 hours a day. Often employing the few rare vampires who, through some defect in their crossover, never sleep. Even at dawn. Much like the 'librarians' that guard the scriptures in the vampire libraries. Cold, calculating, merciless if needed. Get caught with a hand in the wrong cookie jar...and there will be no second chances.
