Or a stand-alone game? I think an mmorpg would be difficult with a limited amount of characters. There can only be so many 'Justin's' running around. But with a built-in quest system, akin to that of World of Warcraft, perhaps all the characters at the lot could work towards the path of the mimic? Like Atlantica Online, where everyone, no matter what your character is, is searching for Atlantis? Also, in the same vein as World of Warcraft, anyone NOT from the lot, or friends of those from the lot, could be an opposing faction? Soren, Natpea, Zero and so on. Both sides fighting to find hidden and forbidden scriptures and learning/stealing extra's from each other...trying to become the perfect vampire? Or, the characters from the story could be NPC's that give out quests in the search to become a perfect vampire?

Very interesting thoughts indeed. I would play it.

I know multiverse has (I think it's free. I think they only charge you if you charge players) a game engine that can be downloaded, although it's not very good, but useable certainly. You would really only need graphic artists, writers, programmers and testers. Of course you'd need the hardware to launch an mmo, servers, T1, tech's...I'm sure there's more that I'm forgetting.

I've played TONS of mmo's, Everquest, World of Warcraft, Dark Age of Camelot, Atlantica Online, to name a few. Some friends of mine and I once decided to make our own. But our main financier didn't like any of the game engines that were within our budget. The good ones are upwards of a million dollars. No joke. It's insane! And we had a hard time finding a decent artist that would work for free until we could launch and start making money. At that time, the majority of the games had subscription fee's. My idea was to make an 'online store' for the game where people could buy stuff for their characters in lieu of a subscription fee, if they chose to. But before we got anywhere, that idea got used. Now a lot of games are doing it. I know Atlantica Online is making a KILLING with it.

Then there's the idea like the much simpler game, "Runescape", where part of the 'world' is available for free play, or non-members. And if you subscribe, you have access to the entire world and all skills etc. Kind of the carrot-before-the-horse routine.

Anyway...just some thoughts. But I'd definitely play it.
