Subject: (NE) GFD: Seth Khons - Chapter 1 - The Chronicles of Seth Khons

Authors Notes: Woohoo! Chapter 1!

This is a spin off of the GFD series, and hopefully it does great justice to the GFD-verse. Before we go any further, originally I wanted to do the whole story by October 31st. That won't happen, I've got too much in store for it now, and I do have a bit of midterms and big class papers for my University, however, this will be updated just as frequently as Of Power, Glory, and Love. One further tidbit, the main character's name, Seth Khons, Seth was the evil Egyptian god of chaos and Khons means traveler or wanderer. There's some other interesting tidbits about Khons, and you can wikipedia that if you want, however, without further ado. Please, enjoy and review.

-------------------------------------------------------

I awoke with a start, gasping for breath as my heart thunderously pounded in my chest. I slowly let out a shaky breath past my dry, cracked lips. Since I came to this accursed world, every night I have woken up in the same fashion. Startled, clammy hands gripping the sheets, pupils dilated from the amount of adrenaline pumping through my system. Even in Hell I can't get much rest.

I rolled onto my side and looked over at the calendar next to my bed and crossed out today's date. It has been 33 days since awakening into this dirty world, no thanks to those three bastards: Lilith, Darren, and Belial. "Vampires," I spat with distaste as I slowly climbed out of bed. Such foul, unclean creatures should not be allowed to exist in this world. They are a stain on humanity. I thought bitterly as I stood and stretched my 5'11'' athletic frame. Athletic from the years of football and baseball, I was one of the best at my High School, not that I am one to brag.

I shuffled over to the small mirror I took from the last vampire I killed. My two grayish-blue eyes looked into the mirror and down at the 'x'-shaped scar on my chest. I glowered at the object as I drifted off in my thoughts. Hm, now what was the name of the vampire that so kindly allowed me to have this? Oh yes... Unimportant. I believe it fit him quite nicely. I continued inspecting myself in the mirror, looking every bit like a normal 17 year old, sans scar on the chest when I heard the tell-tale jumbled sounds outside my small RV. A light smile broke out on my face as the voices leaked in, all five of them, the other members of the little group I joined.

I quickly threw on my gray wife beater and black leather jacket, zipping up only as far as my sternum, leaving the scar for the world to see. I sighed and ran a hand through my short blond hair, feeling another bout of nostalgia coming on as I sunk back into my inner sanctuary. 'Seth, your hair is as bright as the sun,' my girlfriend always told me teasingly. "The sun..." I chuckled darkly as a sadistic visage took shape in the mirror.

In a flash the mirror before me shattered, its glass contents clattering to the floor in a broken pile by my feet. I examined my hand in amusement as the cuts bore no blood. The nifty ability of being able to redirect, stop, or increase blood flow. I released the extra, watching the small rivulets of blood run down my hand and off my fingertips.

"Guh!" I gasped out loud and fell to my knees as a deep rumble reverberated from my stomach, followed swiftly by an intense dagger of pain that seemingly sliced through my insides. I grasped my sides and stayed still, biting back the pain, my body reacting by pouring out more adrenaline, and rivers of sweat ran across my skin and dripped off my face until the episode passed.

Shakily, I stood and opened the door of my vehicle and stepped out. Immediately I was greeted by the sticky humidity, fitting of a July summer night in Minnesota. I took a shaky step forward, only to barely miss getting bowled over by James, the most rambunctious person/vampire I have ever met in my life.

The kid is 13, well, looks-wise. Crossed over 58 years ago, and still moves with hardly a care in the world. He comes up to just above my shoulders, but he's probably the most skilled and dangerous fighter here. Looks are deceiving, and if you were to get on his bad side... I absentmindedly rubbed the left side of my ribcage. My first week here, I had gotten into a little bit of trouble. Killing a vampire while he's feeding can do that to you, especially if he is apart of a group. How would I know that they liked to hunt in pairs? Fucking vultures. You know I've had to bleed myself out six times just to feed on a new supply of blood in order to get my body into proper vampire-shape? I wasn't even into my first one when those fuckers hounded me down, but oh boy did they run after James got through with them! Well, what was left of them ran, anyways.

Suffice it to say, I did not go unpunished by James. But what could I have done? Fight back and have him kill me? How useless would that have been with the chance I have been given, the chance to free this world from the grips of darkness? I'm not stupid. As soon as James explained to me that a vampire's powers fully manifest after three or four feedings, I began to intentionally bleed myself so that I could get new supplies of blood, tricking my body into reaching its full completion. However, since I chose to feed off of other vampires, some of which were already low on their own supply, it took a bit longer. I've snacked on six vampires, their lives - for once - going towards something useful. From what I understand, it's looked down upon by most vampires. Obviously, you can't be trusted, which is why I haven't told anyone else. They're second only to raiders in the vampire community on the low rung of the totem pole. Raiders work in groups, stealing valuable vampire possessions, things that hold great emotional value, and thus, monetary value for those sick individuals who enjoy owning such things.

I glanced about the small gathering, walking over to the only female in our group, who happened to be our second-in-command. Tall and lanky, a brunette with long flowing hair and honey-brown eyes. I think she said she played basketball in college back in the 80s. "Hey," I said, getting her attention. "I think I'm going to venture out for awhile. Tell the others not to wait up for me, I'm not sure how long I'll be." She grunted her acknowledgment, and I turned and began a light jog out from our encampment. You know it's funny, since I've been around here for close to four weeks, you'd think I'd remember the other's names.

I slowed my gait down to a leisurely stroll after I got twenty miles away from the group. Stuffing my hands into my black pant's pockets, I meandered around the city, enjoying the refreshing breeze that blew in from the large lake that laid by the city. All these humans... they don't know that at any moment, their life could end, snatched away by a cold thirsty bloodsucker. Who do they have to look out for them? To save them from my fate? Is anyone else willing? To go so far for them? Am I the only one? I turned my head and watched as a couple went strolling along, hand in hand, down the sidewalk.

My life wasn't perfect, but in no means was it something I wanted to end. Lilith, Darren, and Belial. Those three demons are the cause of which I am now here. They hunted me, waited for the most opportune time, and struck. The two watched on as Darren pinned me down and stole my life away from me, all the while I was cursing and helplessly beating my fists against him. Screaming for help that never came.

Pathetic, Shut up!

"Agh!" I cried out, attracting a few glances as I stumbled and fell on the sidewalk. They continued to stroll by, a few my age pointing and laughing, and I probably would've lashed out and killed them if not for the seemingly boundless amount of pain that wracked down to my very core.

I felt a gentle hand on my shoulder, and looked through squinted eyes at the image of a boy, maybe four years younger than me. I ran my tongue along my dry gums as the pain slowly subsided. The kind teen had sat beside me, his hand soothingly rubbing small circles into my shoulder. As the pain ebbed away, I was better able to get a look at him. He had a nice tan complexion, and a silky curtain of brown hair that hung just out of reach from his soft, compassionate green eyes.

"Are you okay?" He asked softly.

I nodded dumbly, still trying to get my bearings, and not trusting my voice quite yet.

"Here," he began, wrapping my arm around his shoulder as he helped me gingerly to my feet. "Let's go over to- woah!" He yelped as my legs gave out and I crashed on top of him, sending us to the ground in a heap of tangled limbs.

"I'm not drunk," I told him, my face inches from his.

"That's good to know," he replied with a grin.

-------------------------------------------------------

"So, Seth, what school do you go to? I go to Century Junior High myself. I noticed you have a sword sheath, that's pretty weird. Why do you have a sword? I wish I had one," The teen, Nick, rambled on once we moved towards the outskirts of the city. God, he reminds me so much of my brother.

"Why are you following me?" I asked him, glancing curiously to the side as he strolled next to me. I had no intentions of reading his thoughts. I haven't experienced hunger in the past half hour, so why mess with a good thing?

"Aw, don't be mean. I'm just making conversation!" He said, his lips pursed together as he quickly thought of another question. "Where are we going? And why're you out so late? And..."

-------------------------------------------------------

"Hey, hey! You can't take the last cookie!" My 11 year old little brother, Zach, yelled at me while he thrust his accusing finger in my direction.

"Oh? Is that so, shrimp-o?" I antagonized him, finishing off the last cookie in two swift bites. "What can you do about it, hm?"

"MOM!!!!!" He shouted.

I narrowed my eyes petulantly. Yeah, that'll do it.

Our mother came in, giving me that motherly look that said it was already my fault as she came over to see what the commotion was. "Yes, Zach, what is it?"

"Seth ate the last cookie! You said I could have it!" He said, crossing his arms and glaring at me in his special childish way. His eyebrows and face would scrunch together and his cheeks would puff out a bit. Thus, I nicknamed him Jiggly, yes, in honor of the pokémon.

"Seth?" My mother said, her voice inflecting that I should respond.

"I did no such thing," I responded confidently. "Jiggles is lying."

"So then, that smudge of chocolate on the side of your mouth is...?"

"Shit!" I exclaimed; my eyes widened in horror at the double meaning. "I mean crap! Er, I mean, uh, um..." I trailed off and hung my head in defeat.

"Woohoo! Busted!" He grinned. "Get 'em mom!" he continued as he started dancing victoriously about the kitchen.

"Honestly, Seth, you're going out with Kim in twenty minutes for your sixth month anniversary. Don't spoil your appetite." She said, then turned to my brother and continued, "And you, nobody likes a tattle tale. Go unload the dishwasher."

-------------------------------------------------------

Nick interlaced his fingers behind his head as we strolled down highway 18, getting further and further away from the city and into the more spacious country side. "It's so dark out here, maybe we should go back?"

"Are you scared?" I asked, smiling.

"No!" he shouted quickly, although, unbeknownst to him, his voice, his body movements, the rapidly sending electrical signals in his body, and his very aura gave away just how nervous he was. And yet, he persisted.

"I used to be scared," I said absentmindedly.

-------------------------------------------------------

"Wow, this is so romantic!" Kim gushed as I led her underneath a large maple tree. The clouds in the sky were suffused with bright oranges, pinks and reds as the sun rested on the horizon.

I spread out the blanket I had brought along for us, along with the food I had packed away. Our eyes locked, tentative smiles shared by us both, and we drew close. I held her against me as I kissed her softly, lovingly. A light breeze blew, rustling the luscious green grass in the field, and the branches above, swaying slightly. A single green leaf fluttered down and landed on her head, breaking us from our embrace as we started laughing.

I fiddled with the ring box in my pocket as I helped her set up the food, our conversation kept to a minimum. She tried to start up a few times, but my energy was diverted to mainly just trying to breathe.

We began eating shortly thereafter, interrupted briefly by a kiss here and there. The conversation picked up a bit as I began to focus more on the food than what was actually going to happen after the food ran out. I loved her so much, and I could tell by the way she looked at me, her body language, she felt the same. I was always perceptive, picking up on things most people didn't notice, like how when something was on her mind, her left pinkie would twitch slightly. Or, when she was truly at ease, she wou-

"I've been thinking," she began, knocking me out of my daze.

"Uh-huh,"

"You love me, right?"

"Of course."

"More than anyone else in the world?" She asked, her feminine voice catching slightly.

"Yeah," I said softly, taking her hand in mine as I gazed into her amorous blue eyes. "There's not a person in this entire world that can match the level of love I hold for you, Kimmy."

"Are you.... Are you going to ask me to marry you?" She finally said.

I gulped. "Yeah, I am."

-------------------------------------------------------

"And that's how we won state last year!" He chirped brightly, his chest puffing out as he bragged how his summer baseball team won state because of him. A loud snapping sound off to our right startled him, causing the teen to jump practically in my arms.

I held him with my right arm as I continued walking, not even breaking stride. "Wow! You're strong!" he commented. I only chuckled.

"So," I began after setting him back down on his feet, "I bet your mom was real proud of you."

He gave me a weird look, his voice tentatively cracking once or twice as he answered, "Yeah... H-How'd you, I mean, why didn't you say 'mom and dad' or anything like that?"

"You just strike me as the kind of kid who only has one parent, and that being the case, I assumed it was your mother. No offense, that is. If I'm wrong.." although I know that I am not, I thought silently.

"N-No, you're right. But it's not what you think! It's not one of those broken homes or anything like that. My mother works hard to provide a good life for me. My dad died when I was four, and we've been each other's rock ever since. We have movie nights, eat together, everything! She's really awesome. I mean.." he paused, collecting his emotions. "I don't know what I'd do without her. Or what she'd do without me, you know?"

I nodded, forgetting the lack of visible light since the clouds had obscured the moon.

"Do you have anyone like that in your life?" Nick asked innocently. "Someone who you love above and beyond anyone else? Someone who you'd give your life for?"

"My most precious person," I murmured quietly. "Yes," I looked down to the scar on my chest. "I do."

-------------------------------------------------------

"Alright mom, I'm going to go get my running in." I told her. I kept putting off my conditioning, I was so busy with going over to Kim's house. But, she's pregnant with my child. I'm not one to abandon the person I love like that. She means the world to me.

"It's 10:40 PM, j-just," she sighed as I turned my back to her to put my shoes on, knowing that I've heard the spiel a million times. "Be careful, alright? Take a bat with you or something."

I rolled my eyes as I headed out the door. "I'm not going to run while holding a bat. I'd look ridiculous. Be back in.. half an hour!"

I set out on the warm summer night, the stars and the moonlight shining brightly as I started my brisk pace. The asphalt on the road was still radiating its heat from the scorching summer day.

I ran the two miles to the Super America, sweating and panting and oh-so-glad to be out of the muggy environment and into the nice air conditioned building. I gave my friend, Alicia, a courteous wave as I entered and headed straight towards the back.

As I got my usual, Gatorade fruit punch, I started to get the feeling of someone watching me. Just, a nagging feeling in the back of my mind that I quickly discarded. There was only two other people in the store at the time, a slender, well proportioned girl around my age, and a man who I assumed was her boyfriend. No harm in those two, I thought.

"Hey Lecy," I greeted, setting my item onto the counter while I fished for some loose change in my pocket.

"Seth, out for another late night run, eh?"

"Yeah, heh, you know... spending most my time with Kim, only time I get to put towards my conditioning for baseball is late at night. At least with football we got the weight training room to ourselves after school."

"Oh quit your whining," she said playfully, handing me back some extra change. I looked at her carefully, and she nodded and closed my hand around the dollar bills. "I know it's not much, but, it's for the baby, okay? A few dollars missing won't be the end of the world here."

Speechless, I mouthed 'thank you' and graciously took the money. I wrapped my arms around her and gave her a brief hug across the counter before parting ways.

I glanced at my watch while I was underneath the bank of lights at the gasoline pumps, and, after taking a big gulp of Gatorade, I started the trek back to my house. I could feel my legs tighten up a bit as I pushed forward, setting a quick pace. It was 11:09, and I really wanted to get back home before 11:30. I hadn't run in awhile, and it showed as my breathing started to become erratic, so, in an attempted to control my breathing, I let out a long, slow breath through my mouth.

"Hey, I think you dropped something back by the store," said a smooth, male voice, directly behind me.

I swiveled my head, but didn't stop running as I noticed the same two people I had seen at the store, plus a third member - the guy who just spoke up - come and run up beside me. They weren't even breaking a sweat, I noticed. I looked at them studiously, the man who spoke looked like he was in his mid-20s. The man had thin eyebrows, a sturdy face, accentuated by high cheek bones and a sharp chin. His hair was a strange blueish-black color that rested on his shoulders, and dusky blue eyes. He wore a dark purple trench coat, black gloves, black undershirt and pants. I wonder why he wasn't sweating buckets like I was?

"Why don't you take a break there, cutie pie?" Said the only female member. She had fair skin, and long, fiery red hair. Her green eyes were stunning; two emerald gems, taking on an almost eerie green glow. She held a strong air of confidence, or just extreme cockiness, or both. All I knew was that it was almost close to midnight, and she was hanging out with two other strange guys. Maybe they're all high, I thought.

"Who are you guys?" I finally asked, coming to a stop as they did the same. The three lined up in front of me, and each took a turn introducing themselves.

"My name is Lilith," the girl said, bowing slightly.

"I am Belial." The man - the same who had been with her at the store - intoned, his voice completely steady.

"My name is Darren,"he said, his rich voice filling my senses. "Some call me a bit of an instigator."

"That's nice," I said without much feeling behind it. "If you guys are done now, I'm going to finish up my run and-"

"You dropped something," Darren said again, his eyes boring into my own. Taking a step back, I began to regret not taking my mother up on her offer to carry a bat around. Sure, it'd have looked weird, but, pride doesn't account for much if you're dead.

"You're right," Belial said stoically. "It does not."

".... Huh?" I asked dumbly.

"Pride doesn't account for much," Lilith said, stepping closer towards me.

"If you're dead." Darren finished, following in Lilith's actions.

I could feel the color run out of my face, and I bolted, my muscles straining to the extreme as vast amounts of epinephrine poured throughout my body. In my haste, I stumbled, and yet before I crashed into the road, I felt two strong arms hold me up. I blinked my eyes owlishly, wondering where the impact was, and why I was staring at the ground twenty feet up.

"Cool trick, huh?" Darren said from behind me, picking up even more speed as we flew into the night. "It is a very rare ability, being able to negate gravity."

"W-What are you?" I hardly sputtered out as fear seized my vocal cords. My body was in overdrive, shaking from the pure buzz of adrenaline and fear. The most basic instinct ran through me: survival.

"God," he said simply, moving down towards the ground.

"Y-You're going too fast." I said as my feet came in contact with the ground. I had to run in such long strides, I knew the moment he relinquished his hold on me, I'd go slamming into the ground. And, that's exactly what happened.

"Gah! Fu-Fuck!" I yelled out as I stumbled and flew into the ground, my body skidding on the gravel by the side of the road. My arms and legs burned from the impact, from the bits and pieces of pebbles and glass that embedded into my skin, some of it tearing from the friction of moving at such speeds.

They were on me in a heartbeat, kicking and shoving, not allowing me to get up. I'm not a push over by any means, not many people my age could push me around like they were, and it pissed me off to no end. The shame and embarrassment I felt as Lilith picked me up and threw me effortlessly twenty feet through the air. I got up quickly, surprisingly blocking one of her blows and spinning, using her momentum to level my elbow into her face.

They stopped, the two men holding a look of astonishment as Lilith stayed hunched over, spitting out the blood from her mouth. Maybe they'll back off, I thought hopefully. However, Lilith slowly rose from her hunched position, and smiled. "Scream for me," she uttered as she moved at speeds I couldn't track, and ploughed into me, sending us both flying in a heap to the ground.

A garbled cry escaped me as the wind was knocked from my body, my lungs burning painfully, trying to get oxygen back in as the demoness continued her relentless onslaught. I brought my arms up to protect my head, and, through it all, I got the strange feeling that they were toying with me. I could only put up a feeble fight against the girl, and knowing there were two others, in the back of my head, I knew it didn't look good.

That being said, when she paused in one of her attacks, looking arrogantly at her work, thinking that I had given up, I sprung! Taking the opening, I punched her underneath the chin. My hand radiated with pain, but I ignored it as her head shot up, her arms doing the same, and that's when I brought my right hand and quickly slammed it into her stomach.

With a small groan she curled up and rolled off of me, going into the fetal position. I scrambled up to take off, only to be blocked quickly by the other two.

"Lilith, getting smacked around by a mere human? How... amusing." Darren said with a gentle smile.

"I'm through with going easy on him!" She screamed, tackling me from behind and slamming my head down to the ground.

I felt a strong sense of dread, but I was relieved when Belial knocked Lilith off of me, restraining her.

"He's Darren's you idiot! Don't forget it!" he hissed at her, holding her away from me while Darren walked towards me, closing the distance between us.

His eyes, his once dark-blue eyes, now yellow in the darkness. I was still too stunned to move, more concerned with getting the world to stop spinning violently, but even then I noticed those foul eyes.

"Vampires...?" I asked weakly.

He flashed a very impressive smile. "Very good," he said soothingly. "Always impressive, Seth Khons. You never cease to amaze me."

I felt a trickle of blood run down my ear as I stood up on wobbly legs, and shivering, I asked: "Why me?"

"Because we're bored? Because it's fun?" He asked, though I knew that wasn't the answer.

"Asshole," I spat vehemently.

"Now now now," he chided. "Why don't you be a good boy... and die!" He lunged at me, slamming me back to the ground. I struggled to fight him off, but he pinned my arms down so easily. I wasn't strong enough to fight him off. That's how the world is. That's how it has always been. The strong can always do what they want while the weak must simply lay down and take it.

His eyes bore into my soul, causing an involuntary shutter to run through my body. "Still fighting? You know you have no chance, right?"

"Fuck you," I said, grimacing as he pressed harder into me, squeezing the air from my lungs.

"I tell you what," he began darkly. "If you really want to live that badly, I think we can come to some sort of agreement."

"For you to fuck off and die?" I said angrily, still glaring daggers at him even though I was at his complete mercy. An immense amount of pain started at my chest and radiated throughout the rest of my body. The slightest movement sent throngs of pain shooting through my whole system. Every small gasp of air made me writhe in pure agony. The air became filled with my screams as blood poured out from the wound on my chest, spilling down and soaking into the ground. I felt an angry heat push its way through the wound as he laid his hand upon it, and it sealed shut.

My voice was raw from the pain, but I still managed to eek out a threat. "I... I'm gonna..... kill you. A.... All of you."

"You know, I don't always get this part right. The whole, turning a human." he said with a shrug. "But if you want your revenge that badly... if you want to kill me, curse me, hate me, then so be it." He finished, sinking his teeth into the side of my neck, bringing me to a whole nother level of pain. I beat my fists weakly against his body, but to no avail. I sat there, helplessly, as he drained me of my very life. Stealing it like a fucking cockroach.

"Live an unsightly life," I heard his voice inside my head as my body began to grow cold, my arms feeling like thousands of pounds of lead. "Survive through the ugliness, cling to your pathetic existence, and when you hold the power to take down a nation, come, find me."

I awoke multiple times after that, screaming in an abandoned shed, only to pass out from the pain. On the fourth week, I arose to find a piece of paper hammered to the door. It read, 'You're allowed to visit your home only once to take your belongings. If you break this rule, if you search out your parents, your fiancé, your child. We will find you, and we will kill you. Everyone you love will die very slow, gruesome deaths, yes, even your son.'

-------------------------------------------------------

"I'm glad we turned around," Nick said, snuggling next to me, breaking me from my inner turmoil. "I was beginning to get worried for a minute."

"What do you have to fear, hm?" I said, looking down at him while I wrapped my arm around his waist. His attraction was so obviously, the aroma was literally pouring out from him.

He looked up at me and giggled, his green eyes sparkling with mirth as he snuggled deeper into me. "Hey, Seth, do you think we can meet each other again?"

I stopped abruptly, Nick following suit, and I gathered him into my arms. His small frame relaxed against me as I held him gently. "I think... this is the last night you'll ever spend alive."

His neck snapped up, and I watched as a turbulent swirl of emotions played across his countenance, a mix between humor and shock. "Hehe.. t-that was.. you almost got me there."

I leaned down, my eyes glowing dangerously right in front of him. My lips stretched back as I smiled darkly, my canines showing proudly, glinting off the soft moonlight as the clouds moved away.

He immediately reeled backwards and turned to run. That's when I activate my extra, closing the blood valves of his lower extremities and channeling his blood flow to areas above his thighs. He suddenly toppled over and crashed into the asphalt, his arms the only thing to cushion his fall.

I hunched over him and turned him on his back, delighted to see the confused horror that splayed out across his face. "I'm going to kill you now, Nick. Is that alright?" I asked softly, stroking the left side of his face with the back of my hand.

The boy whimpered, tears sliding down his sun-kissed cheeks. "N-No,"

I laughed haughtily, my head tilting back as I let loose, howling with uncontrollable laughter. Tears came to my eyes, making them glow even brighter, which only served to freak out the young teen underneath me even further.

He pushed me off, scrambling to get back on his feet. I sat there, watching in amusement as he then began to crawl on his stomach away from me. As he got twelve feet away, he stopped, probably in pain from the blood rushing back to his lower limbs. Currently, the extra only had a range of twelve feet. Anything beyond, and my hold on the person broke.

I looked down at the dampness on my black pants. Did he.... did he piss himself? I looked back up, watching as he tried valiantly to run away and escape. Unfortunately for him, my second extra had a more permanent fixture. In a leap I found myself next to him again, making him cry out in shock. Smiling, I extended my extra into him, disrupting the neuromuscular system.

He moved to run, I assumed, but his arms flailed wildly instead.

"Having trouble, Nick?" I grinned, pouncing on him. I held his arms above his head and pinned them to the ground with one hand. "It's a cool trick, isn't it? Did you know that the brain and spine send and receive electrical impulses from the body? It's so fascinating, the way the human body works."

I felt his body tremble beneath mine, and his soft, green eyes stared up at me. He looked so innocent, and scared, and a myriad of other emotions all balled up on full display in varying aspects on his face. "W-Why... why are you.. doing this?" Nick croaked out.

"Shh," I whispered gently as I leaned down towards his ear, turning his neck easily with a finger.

"Mommy," he whimpered, then screamed as I bit into him, his limbs trashing about in disarray.

I milked the blood slowly, using my first extra to control the amount of blood that left his body each time his heart beat. "You're dying, Nick." I said, grinning against his neck, kissing the skin lightly as I kept his blood from flowing out his wound.

The boy moaned helplessly as I plunged back in, taking another greedy portion before pulling back. I started at cute little face, those cute, tear-streaked tan cheeks. His cute, red lips hanging open, sucking deep breaths of oxygen into his system as his body fought to stay conscious. His green eyes still alight, watching on in disbelief as I took another small drink from him.

"You can feel it, right? Your very life fading slowly from your grasp? The world growing colder, darker." I moved off to his side, rubbing my hand against his crotch, and his body fought not to respond to the person who was murdering it. I didn't allow the blood to, though. He didn't have much left, only enough to keep his vital organs alive.

"I-I'm scared," he said above a whisper. "M-Mommy, I, I don't wanna die! I don't wanna die I don't wanna die," the boy kept chanting as tears streamed down his face.

I smiled and brushed a few strands of his brown locks from his face, then took ahold of his chin and tilted it as I looked him directly in the eyes. "You're going to die, Nick."

"W... Why,"

"Because I can? Because it's fun? Who knows," I shrugged my shoulders. "You know, you're beautiful. I hope my son grows to be like you."

His watery green eyes looked at me with the most heart wrenching human expression I had ever seen in my life. And, with that, I slowly drank what was left of his blood, his breathing eventually became shallower and shallower, and his body finally relaxed as I milked the last remains from him. I pulled back in time to watch the the light in his eyes slowly diminish, and then, he was gone. Dead. But alive, in me, I could feel his very essence surging through my veins, bringing my vampiric powers to full bloom.

The euphoric sensation I felt racing through my system was amazing. It topped Kim accepting my proposal, it topped finding out I was going to have a child. It was... heavenly, a rapturous sensation, a full-body, spiritual enlightenment.

I made it back to camp with an hour to spare until daylight, and instantly I was greeted by our youngest newbreed. "Seth! YOU FED! Was it a human this time or did you find another raider? What was it like? How'd you do it? Details details details!" he cried excitedly while bouncing on his heels.

"I've never fed on a raider yet, nor have I fed on a scavenger." I said tersely.

He furrowed his brow. "But you sai-" He stopped, his eyes wide in shock as my sword pierced through his heart. I kicked him off the end of my sword and sent his body flying like yesterday's trash against the side of a car.

Two other members came out, hearing the commotion, then rushed at me when the noticed my sword drawn, covered in blood, and the kid with a whole through his heart. They didn't last long, however. I enjoyed the intense thrill of Nick's essence pounding through my veins, and I weaved and maneuvered through each attack.

As much fun as I was having, I knew I had to end it before James showed up. Extending my extra out, I cut the blood flow from both of their legs, and with a spin of my heel, their heads went tumbling off, their bodies erupting with sprays of blood. Finishing the job, I speared my sword through each person's chest.

A light whistling sound ripped through the air, and was the only thing that gave away the ice projectile behind me.I deftly rolled on my knees and off towards the side as I narrowly dodged it in time.

"Not bad," said the second-in-command, with James standing next to her. "I told you, James, that this would happen. I had a bad feeling about this one."

I looked at the two with unconcealed hatred. "Hehe, you stupid fools. You can't stop me now." I tilted my head as I grinned. "Why don't you two be good little vampires and just die!" I took off, running straight at them, my sword out to my side, ready to strike them down at a moment's noticed. As I got not more than ten feet away, I felt a sharp pain go through stomach. I looked down to find a stone pike running through me like a shish kabob.

"Did you not think I was prepared for this?" James said from behind. I looked forward, only to realize a rake stood beside the female.

I ground my teeth together. "H-How?"

"From the moment we first met, my good friend. I have the innate ability to make anything appear to look like me. One should never let their enemies know their strengths and weaknesses. Unfortunately for you, I know about your blood extra. It is twelve feet, is it not?"

"It has grown," I said right beside him.

James stood there, frozen, the realization that his pike had nothing on its long end slowly sunk in. He looked up where his close friend lay, her upper half split open from the left side of her neck down to her right hip. "H-How?" he mimicked.

"That's not the only ability I have, my dear friend." I said mockingly while I pressed my blade against his neck.

He hung his head while a fragile smile of defeat came upon him.

"I can manipulate the electrical messages in your brain, making you see things, smell things, and experience things that simply are not there."

"Ah," he paused, then conceded, "that's cool."

"Yeah," I agreed, flicking my wrist a few times as I systematically ended his life. "It is."

I looked around at the bloody carnage, and I couldn't help but smile. I looked down and clenched my fists, the strong life force that ran through my veins, helping me complete my transformation. I lifted my head up, gazing up at the heavens. "I am coming for you," I whispered into the darkness.

Hope you enjoyed, please stay tuned for the next chapter in the coming weeks! And, as always, let me know what you feel about the story! You guys keep me alive. I-I've got nobody. No friends, no family, nothing. It's just me... just me and my ganja... and... my writing utensils.
