FYI - these photos illustrate the safety issue
extremely well. When holding an inmate
who is handcuffed do NOT hold the inmate
by the handcuff chain.
Basically the suspect just has to fold one
hand on top of the other, trapping the officer’s
hand easily breaking the hand or fingers.
Once the hand is trapped, it is easy to spin
and break the elbow (like our old weapon
retention drill) and then attack the knee and
groin area of the officer
