I know that there are alot of you out there that this has happened to, but I got to vent anyway...! Okay so dd did a pageant this weekend that was a more natural pageant, we worked real hard getting her ready with a simpler walk and all that. So the day arrives and she goes to interview that morning and everything goes great, she gets on stage and again almost perfect... Crowning... uh huh the judges go for a little girl with no walk that stood on stage CHEWING her dress and SCRATCHING her head. I almost fell out.
But the icing on the cake was the score sheets... One judge said that she shouldnt even be doing Interview... She didnt even place. WTF? Please feel free to share your story it might make me feel better. And Judges feel free to share what you think might have happened.

Looks like you had a problem that happened to me before. No matter how much you tone down your DD's routine, clothing, etc. The natural directors and judges smell glitz from a mile away. Some(not all)natural pageants want to give their crown to a non-pageant kid. They can see it is giving an opprutunity for someone to get a crown that hasnt ever had one.It is wrong, but it does happen.
So they couldnt take off for her beauty,or attire,so they went after her interview which can be picked apart.Because an interview can be picked apart. It sucks.I am sorry that happened to your DD.
I usually stay in my own pond, that helps alot.

We do national level glitz. Occasionally, my mom would pressure me into putting my DD in a small local pageant. No matter HOW much I toned her down, it never seemed to work out. I agree with the other poster. I just stay in my own "pond." It's so much easier that way. I just have to deal with my mom everytime the local festival pageant comes around...uggg.

Our festival pageant probably shouldn't even be considered a pageant- not even natural. It seems like the girls with barely brushed hair that just twirl on the x's win over put together girls. The one thing that set me over the edge was last year when my dd entered and was first out in her group. Her talent wasn't the most technical, but it was still cute and fun to watch. The judges seemed to enjoy it, but the girl after my dd had a very skilled talent. Later I heard one judge ask another what happened to "contestant ___'s talent score" (my dd). He said he changed them after seeing the other contestant. I was so angry and when I brought this issue to the director, she said that the judges could do whatever they wanted as long as the scoresheets weren't in her hand!

I took my daughter to a National pageant recently and on the glitz side (which was supposed to be FULL glitz), she was beaten by a child that would not even let the h/m person put eye makeup on her! My daughter was working so much in personality and smiling HUGE!
