When a child, teen or adult has surgery, an extensive preparation goes on before the actual surgical work. Only some of this preparation is done when the patient is still awake. Most is done when the patient is under anesthesia. During that part of the preparation, the patient is totally nude, and much or the preparation goes on at the lower body parts, regardless where the actual surgery is done.

Furthermore, these preparations tend to be more extensive on children and teens than on adults.
