Olivia, my name is Milly Durso. As a lesbian, I am writing to express my full support for your plan to make this forum a place solely for women. Please do restructure this forum as soon as you can.
My partner Janet and I own a lesbian bar called The Fish Market in our downtown area. We have a good group of "Right On!" women -- salt of Mother Earth lesbian women -- no part-timers, lipstick or high heels, just pure, true lesbian women. We serve only Miller Beer and hard liquor, and only our music is on the jukebox; records like "Traveling Band" by Creedence Clearwater Revival, "Living Loving Maid" by Led Zeppelin, "Down On Me" by our Janis, and of course, "Midnight At The Oasis" by Maria Muldaur, because all lesbians like "Midnight At The Oasis".
I'd like to bring to your womens' forum an issue that I have felt strongly about for at least two years now but have not been able to find any support for. My issue concerns frankfurters, or "hot dogs". When grocery shopping, we lesbian women are constantly offended, insulted and some even traumatized when confronted with the sight of frankfurters, which are offensively shaped like the male penis. The erect penis, in fact. Many lesbian women even walk aisles out of their way in order to avoid being confronted with the frankfurters, the offensive image of the male penis, displayed in clear view, upsetting and demeaning to lesbian women.
I have come up with the solution to this problem. While you might be inclined to think that simply packaging the frankfurters in non-clear packages would solve the problem, it actually would not; even though the frankfurters would not be visible, lesbian women would still know that the (penis shaped) frankfurters were in those packages, their presence still offending. My solution is for the industries to start producing frankfurters in patty form, like hamburgers -- shaped like a hamburger patty instead of the offensive penis shape. This would also eliminate the need for "hot dog" rolls, as hamburger rolls would also be used for the frankfurter patties.
While Olivia considers restructuring this forum, I would ask any lesbian sister who sees this post to be a "Right On!" lesbian woman and voice your support here for my solution regarding the frankfurters.
