Subject: Before we use a term we must agree on what it means.

Yes, I mean the term "naked." I have heard it used in describing states of dress it just doesn't mean. This is usually done by some person trying to contrive guilt or outrage--where none is called-for, except in his own mind.

I once heard an old man ask somebody (who was wearing walking-shorts and a tank-top, about a block from the beach in FL) if his wife approved of his "going naked" like that. People who make these cries-of-wolf are nothing new.

The character in this People-of-Walmart photo has more skin on display than some skinny 5-foot-tall girl HAS, were she to display all of hers. But it would be absurd to say he's "naked."

He isn't wearing a shirt. Many people would say he should go put one on. But he isn't naked.

If a person has NO clothes on but hospital slipper-socks, THAT would be naked in a hospital. If a person is wearing one of those wide-open-backed hospital gowns and sitting in a chair or a bed, he isn't naked. Walking around holding it all up above his nipples--maybe. But not while it's covering everything the bed or chair doesn't.

That sound reasonable? Best regards, all.
